In June, as excitement for the North, Central, and South American World Cup was building, FRIDAY witnessed TV Asahi announcer Tsumugi Mitani (32)—known as the biggest soccer fan among female TV announcers—on a date at an izakaya.
Mitani spent about four hours at a sake izakaya with her boyfriend, a handsome office worker identified only as “Mr. A.” On another occasion, she was spotted at an Italian restaurant for a drinking party that lasted over eight hours.
“They say they’ve been dating for over five and a half years. They’ve already introduced each other to their parents and are reportedly living together part-time,” said a TV Asahi employee.
It’s said that Mitani would sometimes gush about Mr. A during breaks in filming. However, following FRIDAY’s report, she was reportedly given a “ban” on such talk.
“Apparently, she was scolded by upper management for being ‘too careless!’ and was feeling down about it. It’s true that she used to talk about it quite openly, saying things like, ‘I went to this yakitori place with my boyfriend.’ But looking at it another way, that just shows how much she loves A,” said the same source.
