Expressing her distrust of Miyama

Reports of an alleged affair between actor Ryoki Miyama (27) and former Takarazuka Revue actress Maria Hanano (33) continue to make waves.

After co-starring in the musical *Crash Landing on You*, Miyama and Hanano reportedly met repeatedly at city hotels in Tokyo and in the theater room of Miyama’s Tokyo apartment. Following the reports, they both issued a statement saying

“It is true that we spent time together,”

, but insisted it was strictly for character development. Although they deny having an affair, it’s hard to say the public has bought their explanation.

The July 30 issue of *Shukan Bunshun* provided a detailed report on the pair, noting that their behavior remained unchanged even after the allegations surfaced. It appeared as though they were somehow enjoying the commotion, and it was revealed that Miyama and Hanano had been exchanging “high-spirited” text messages.

The magazine also conducted an exclusive interview with Miyama’s wife, actress Shuri (35), who said,

〈I’m in shock〉

.

In response to this magazine’s inquiry, a source from a TV network’s news program stated,

“These remarks carry a lot of weight,”

and went on to say the following:

“Even before their marriage, when a ‘broken engagement scandal’ involving Mr. Miyama and a female influencer came to light, Shuri remained silent. But now that she has voiced her distrust of Mr. Miyama, it’s highly likely that a rift has formed in their marriage,” said the same TV network source.

This is likely not just someone else’s problem for Shuri’s father, Yutaka Mizutani (74), and her mother, Ran Ito (age undisclosed). Ito, in particular, is said to be furious.

Hashtag: Ryoki Miyama

When Shuri announced her marriage and pregnancy on August 29 of last year, it was Ito who stepped in to defend Miyama, who was facing a backlash.

He posted a photo with Shuri on Instagram and wrote:

“Congratulations from the bottom of my heart”

“My mother has been watching over you all along,”

and offered his congratulations. He then added the hashtag “#RyokiMiyama” alongside “#HappilyEverAfter” and “#Shuri.”

“By deliberately including ‘#RyokiMiyama,’ he gave the impression that Ryoki had become part of the family. I think this was a gesture of kindness on Ito’s part. Since Shuri said she ‘trusts her husband,’ he decided to show his support,” said a source at an entertainment agency familiar with Shuri.

Similarly, on September 26 of last year, when Shuri announced the birth of her first child, Mizutani posted:

“Congratulations, Shuri and Ryoki! Now our dinner gatherings, which started last year, will have one more person and become even livelier. Thanks to both of you!”

. By referring to Miyama as “Ryoki,” he was signaling that there were no hard feelings between them.

A sports newspaper entertainment reporter commented,

“Basically, Mizutani and Ito set the stage for Ms. Miyama, who’s been through a lot,”

For that very reason, this scandal—which broke shortly after the birth of her first child—is by no means something that can be overlooked. It’s not just a betrayal of Shuri, but also of Mizutani and Ito, who have supported her all along.

“More than whether he was actually having an affair with Hanano, what the two of them find unforgivable is that Shuri is hurt. They adored her that much. Especially since Shuri and Ito were so close—so much so that people called them ‘identical mother-daughter’—Ito’s anger is immeasurable,” said the entertainment agency insider mentioned earlier.

The day will likely come when Miyama must explain the situation to his family. Will he be able to regain their trust, or will he make “another decision”?
