Once again, actor Ryoki Miyama (27) has been hit by a scandal involving a woman.

According to a report in the July 23 issue of *Shukan Bunshun*, his alleged partner is Maria Kano (33), a former top female lead in the Takarazuka Revue’s Flower Troupe and an actress. The two are currently co-starring in the musical *Crash Landing on You* (running in Tokyo through July 26).It is a cross-border love story between the daughter of a South Korean chaebol, who makes an emergency landing in North Korea following a paragliding accident, and a soldier in the Korean People’s Army. In the musical, Miyama plays the soldier, while Kano plays the chaebol’s daughter.

According to *Bunshun*, the two grew close following their collaboration on stage. It is reported that they held repeated secret meetings at Miyama’s apartment and at city hotels in Tokyo after rehearsals.

Miyama’s wife is none other than actress Shuri (35). She is the beloved daughter of renowned actor Yutaka Mizutani (74) and former idol actress Ran Ito (age undisclosed). Their long-awaited first child was born last September.

Hanano, meanwhile, is also married. She married a non-celebrity man in June 2021 and announced the birth of a son in July 2024. In other words, this is an urgent situation in which both parties—who have children—are suspected of a “double affair.”

In response to the reports, Hanano’s official website was updated on July 22; she apologized for the commotion and explained the circumstances.

“Regarding the matter reported this time, after confirming the facts with the individual in question, it is true that she spent time alone with a co-star. While the purpose was to deepen her understanding of her stage role, it is also true that this was an inappropriate decision, and she takes her own naivety and poor judgment very seriously.”

Miyama’s agency also acknowledged the reports , stating, “It is true that the two spent time together for the purpose of developing their stage roles.”

“Both parties are using the same logic: ‘We met alone, but it was strictly for work purposes—there is no romantic relationship.’ It’s true that there’s no way to verify what happened inside the room. Well, I don’t know how many people will actually believe that, though,”

said a sports newspaper reporter covering the entertainment industry.

Even before his marriage to Shuri, Miyama caused a public stir with a “broken engagement scandal” involving a female influencer known as “R-chan.”

The story went like this: After getting a female influencer to spend over 100 million yen on him, his affair with another woman was exposed, and eventually, he cut off all contact with her, leading to their split. As a result of this scandal, Miyama left the popular boy band “BE:FIRST,” where he had been active under the stage name “RYOKI.”He also left the agency he was with at the time.

“Miyama’s side has strictly ordered media outlets not to use the title ‘former BE:FIRST member’ when covering him. Miyama himself does not seem to intend to identify himself as a former BE:FIRST member either,” said a source at an entertainment agency.

*Crash Landing on You*, which became the epicenter of the scandal, served as a litmus test for “actor Ryoki Miyama.” At a press conference held in May ahead of the stage production, Miyama stated,

“I have made up my mind and am fully committed as a person,”

“This will be the culmination of my work, blending the fields of music—which I’ve pursued as an artist—and acting,”

he stated emphatically.

A production staff member from a TV news program revealed the behind-the-scenes details:

“At the press conference, reporters had requested in advance to ask about the broken engagement scandal and his newlywed life with Shuri, but Miyama’s team declined all such questions. The reason given was, ‘We want people to see the reborn me.’ The only questions allowed were those related to the play.I could sense Miyama’s determination to start anew, but looking back now, you have to wonder, ‘Who does he think he is to say that?’”

Miyama, who claims to have “been reborn,” has once again been embroiled in a scandal involving women. This time, it’s unclear how Mizutani, Ito, or Shuri will react. How does Miyama intend to navigate this difficult situation?
