 “Single mothers, I’ll provide financial support”
 A 33-year-old man reportedly posted this message on social media. He then demanded of the women who contacted him, “I’ll pay you if you show me your daughters naked.”
 “On February 3, ’26, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s Juvenile Welfare Division arrested Shuichi Akasaki (33), an unemployed man from Minami Ward, Fukuoka Prefecture, on suspicion of non-consensual indecency and filming sexual poses.”Defendant Akasaki is suspected of having a single mother in Tokyo film her daughters, A (14 at the time) and B (11 at the time), while video chatting with her from late May to early June of last year.
 The case came to light after Ms. A confided in a teacher at the junior high school she attended. It appears that the defendant, Akasaki, partially denied the charges, stating, “I saw Ms. B naked, but I did not see Ms. A.” (Reporter, Social Affairs Section, national newspaper)
 On February 5, following Akazaki’s arrest, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department referred the mother to prosecutors on charges of photographing and sending nude images of her daughters. The mother reportedly stated, “I believed that if I followed (Akazaki’s) instructions, I would receive money. I did not respect my daughters’ feelings and forced them to comply.”

 On July 8, the Tokyo District Court handed down its verdict to Defendant Akasaki, who was charged with non-consensual indecent acts. What did Defendant Akasaki say in court? Let’s look back at the events leading up to this point.
 During the trial, Akasaki pleaded guilty. However, regarding specific details, he claims he “does not remember.”
 In late May of last year, after the defendant posted the message quoted at the beginning —“I will provide financial support” —he reportedly received a message from a mother stating, “I am a single mother. My children are 14 and 11 years old,” and “Please help me.”

 When asked by his defense attorney , “Did you anticipate forcing your children to engage in sexual acts from the moment you made this post?” Defendant Akasaki replied, “It was half and half, ” and continued:
 “It was half and half—partly a reckless impulse, and partly the hope that I might be able to see sexual scenes via video call.”

<h3>My account became inaccessible</h3>
 During the video call, Defendant Akasaki could see his mother, but he did not show himself or speak, instead giving instructions solely through text messages. When he sent a message asking, “Please have Ms. A and Ms. B join the call,” his mother brought her two daughters into the video call.Akazaki then claimed that while he himself gave instructions to the two girls, he did not remember the specific details of those instructions.
 “To be honest, I don’t remember clearly. I sent a message to either Ms. A or Ms. B asking them to perform an obscene act—such as showing their underwear or their breasts.”
 Regarding the ages of A and B, he stated, “After my arrest, I was shown evidence such as our message exchanges and learned their ages at the time, ” emphasizing that “I did not know their ages at the time of the offense.”

 Defendant Akasaki exchanged messages with the mother stating, “I’ll provide 800,000 yen in support if you show me Ms. A or Ms. B naked, ” but in the end, no money was paid at all.During the trial, he stated, “I had originally intended to provide about 300,000 yen in support,” and argued that although the amount increased after he saw the sexual images of the two daughters, he still intended to provide that “support.” He explained the reason for not paying the money as follows:
 “I had enough savings to pay the promised amount. However, for some reason I don’t quite understand, the moment I promised to pay, my social media account suddenly became inaccessible. As a result, I lost track of the other party’s account as well, and since I had no way to contact them, I was unable to make the payment.”

 At the second hearing held on June 23, closing arguments were presented.
 The prosecutor pointed out, “This is a despicable act that sexually exploits and preys on the victims, disregarding their dignity.”“As evidenced by the fact that the defendant failed to pay the co-defendant (the mother)—who was in financial distress and followed the defendant’s instructions out of desperation—it is clear that the defendant had absolutely no intention of providing support; it was solely for the purpose of satisfying his own sexual desires,” the prosecutor stated,and sought a “prison term of two years and six months.”
 On the other hand, the defense argued that since Defendant Akazaki has a mild intellectual disability and testified that he “did not recognize that his actions were criminal, ” argued , “Even if his criminal responsibility is not reduced or waived through the application of Article 39 of the Penal Code (which provides for reduced punishment for acts committed by persons with diminished mental capacity), it is believed that the defendant’s impaired judgment due to his intellectual disability strongly influenced the formation of his motive for the crime.”
 Furthermore , citing factors such as “the expectation that the defendant will be under family supervision going forward” and “the fact that, even while on bail, the defendant has been attending a specialized hospital to control sexual impulses,” the defense stated that “a suspended sentence would be appropriate.”
 In his final statement, he said , “ I’ve told a few lies in the past, so from now on, I’ll be honest with the people around me, ” but did he really tell lies serious enough to warrant mentioning them specifically here in court? 
 Currently, Ms. A and Ms. B are said to be living apart from their mother.
 Regarding this, Defendant Akasaki expressed remorse , saying , “I believe my selfish actions were the reason why A and B ended up living apart from their mother.”
