<h2>In a faint voice, barely audible even through the microphone</h2>
<p class="PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer" data-start="208" data-end="342">The first hearing in the assault case involving &#8220;Madame Dewi,&#8221; Dewi Sukarno (86), was held at the Tokyo District Court on June 23.</p>
<p data-start="344" data-end="602">According to the indictment, there were two separate assault incidents. In February 2025, Dewi allegedly threw chopsticks, a champagne glass, and other objects at Victim A, a woman employed at her personal office, at a restaurant in Tokyo&#8217;s Shibuya Ward.</p>
<p data-start="604" data-end="795">In another incident, late at night on October 28, 2025, Dewi allegedly assaulted Victim B, another manager, at an animal hospital in Shibuya Ward by punching her in the chest and abdomen.</p>
<p data-start="797" data-end="975">Dressed in a black dress, pearl earrings, and a diamond necklace, Dewi appeared in court. According to an entertainment reporter from a sports newspaper who attended the hearing:</p>
<p data-start="797" data-end="975"><strong>&#8220;At the beginning of the trial, she had to state her name, date of birth, and other personal information. Perhaps because she was extremely nervous, her voice was so faint that it could barely be heard even through the microphone. It was completely different from the eloquent and lively way she appears on television.&#8221;</strong></p>
<h2>Detailed video evidence reportedly exists</h2>
<p class="PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer" data-start="1347" data-end="1392">During the proceedings, Dewi&#8217;s lawyer stated:</p>

But what is attracting even more attention is the evidence held by prosecutors. Regarding the second incident at the animal hospital, very detailed video footage reportedly exists, complete with audio recordings.&#8221;</strong></p>
<p data-start="2117" data-end="2467">Although Dewi broadly admitted the allegations during the first hearing, she acknowledged throwing a wet towel and chopsticks in the case involving Victim A, but denied throwing the champagne glass. Regarding Victim B, she claimed that she had merely shaken the woman off after being restrained and insisted that she had not punched or kicked anyone.</p>
<p data-start="2469" data-end="2501">The television source continued:</p>
<p data-start="2469" data-end="2501"><strong>&#8220;Although she generally admitted the charges, Dewi&#8217;s arguments at the first hearing amounted to a considerable denial of the prosecution&#8217;s account. Prosecutors will likely present extensive evidence and challenge her testimony. In particular, if the footage from the animal hospital is shown in court, it will not only test the credibility of her statements but could also have a significant impact on her public image. For someone hoping to return to entertainment activities, that could be a serious blow.&#8221;</strong></p>
