<h2><span class="strongInContent"> “I wanted to have sex while on drugs”</span></h2>
<p> The trial of defendant Ayuka Tadano (24 at the time of arrest), who is charged with crimes including kidnapping for profit and false imprisonment, began on June 19 at the Tokyo District Court.</p>
<p> In connection with a case last October in which the body of a man (hereinafter referred to as “Mr. A”) was found on a vacant lot in Sakai Town, Ibaraki Prefecture, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested six men, including individuals affiliated with the designated organized crime group Yamaguchi-gumi. Furthermore, the defendant Ayuka Tadano was arrested on suspicion of confinement.</p>

<p><span class="strongInContent"> “It all began last summer when two of the men were first arrested and indicted on charges of unlawful detention of another man with whom they had a financial dispute. As investigators examined the smartphone communications between the two and the other four suspects, it was discovered that they had also had a dispute with Mr. A and that they had abducted him on June 11 of last year and subsequently buried his body.</span></p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> After the police pinpointed the location and conducted a search with a 50-person team using heavy machinery, they discovered Mr. A’s body—buried nearly naked—at a depth of 2 meters on October 14 of last year. The results of the autopsy revealed the cause of death to be undetermined.They were arrested on October 24 on suspicion of abandoning a corpse. At that time, defendant Tadano was also arrested on suspicion of confinement.</span></p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> While confined inside the car, Ms. A had adhesive tape wrapped around her face and her hands and feet bound. She was then taken to the bowling alley’s parking lot. In addition to being punched and kicked, she was subjected to brutal assault, including having her pants removed and a lit cigarette pressed against her lower body.“It appears that the defendant Tadano left the scene, but Mr. A ultimately died,” said an investigative source.</span></p>

<p> According to the indictment, at the request of the men, Defendant Tadano told Mr. A,</p>

<p> and arranged to meet him. Upon entering Mr. A’s home, he confirmed the presence of drugs and unlocked the door. He is said to have played a key role, including letting the men inside.So why did Defendant Tadano assist the six men in their crime? During the court hearing that day, the defendant was cross-examined, and the nature of the relationship between Defendant Tadano and the men was revealed.</p>
<p> At the first hearing held on June 11, regarding the charges, Defendant Tadano stated,</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> “I had not been told in advance about the confinement, but it is a fact that I did what I did at the scene,”</span></p>
<p> and partially denied the charges.</p>
<p> At the time of his arrest, Defendant Tadano had a flashy appearance—wearing a fluorescent yellow hoodie and sporting blonde hair—but on this day, he wore a navy blue tracksuit with an eye-catching fluorescent pink zipper.Her blonde hair had grown out at the roots, revealing more black hair, a sign of her prolonged detention. In stark contrast to her flashy appearance, she maintained a frightened expression throughout the proceedings.</p>

<p> When asked by her defense attorney during cross-examination about her relationship with the men,</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> “I met them through a female senior,”</span></p>
<p> she replied in a voice so soft it was barely audible, speaking rapidly. She continued to answer the defense attorney’s questions in the same hurried manner, prompting the judge to repeatedly admonish her, “Could you please speak a little louder and more slowly?” As for why she did not refuse when the men asked her to lure Ms. A out,</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> “I didn’t know what they might do if I refused. I couldn’t refuse because I was afraid,”</span></p>
<p> she explained. When asked, “Why do you think this incident happened?”</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> “I think the people involved were the problem. They were members of organized crime groups. I don’t think this would have happened if I had refused,”</span></p>
<p> she said, expressing regret. Regarding her relationship with the men,</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> “They helped me when I was held captive by a client I’d met through compensated dating,”</span></p>
<p> She explained that she felt indebted to the men and began spending time with them as a result.</p>

<p> Defendant Tadano had previously purchased drugs from the male victim and knew his contact information, so when the men asked him <span class="strongInContent">, “We’re in a dispute right now. He hasn’t paid his drug debt. Please call him out,”</span> he agreed.On the day of the crime, Defendant Tadano went to Mr. A’s home, checked for drugs, and then unlocked the door, letting the men inside. She gave a vivid account of how, once inside, the men threatened Mr. A with statements like <span class="strongInContent">, “How are you going to settle this?”</span> and confined him in a car.</p>

<p> The prosecution sought a six-year prison sentence, arguing <span class="strongInContent">that “the defendant played an extremely important role and ultimately led to the victim’s death.”</span> The defense attorney, on the other hand, requested a suspended sentence.</p>
