On June 13, the international music awards ceremony “MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026 (MAJ)” Grand Ceremony was held at Toyota Arena Tokyo in Aomi, Koto Ward, Tokyo, bringing together many leading domestic and international artists.

“MAJ is one of Japan’s largest music festivals, jointly organized by five major music industry organizations. This year, the second edition, awards were presented across six major categories and a total of 78 categories. The ceremony was held in two parts, and before the second part starting at 7:30 p.m., a red carpet event brought together leading Japanese artists,” said a music magazine writer.

The highlight of the over one-hour red carpet event was, as expected, the female artists.

HANA, the seven-member girl group that won the “Best New Artist Award,” appeared in matching black-based outfits. CHIKA (21), who received the trophy from presenter Tomoyasu Hotei (64), commented:

“Since our debut, we’ve worked with the hope of becoming someone’s reason to live. We are honored to receive this award.”

They also performed two songs, “NON STOP” and “ROSE,” delivering a powerful performance. Meanwhile, MISAMO, a sub-unit consisting of Japanese members of TWICE, appeared in dresses that highlighted their legs, and the idol group FRUITS ZIPPER energized the venue in their usual dazzling costumes.

Among the male artists, the one who drew the most attention and stood out overwhelmingly was Mrs. GREEN APPLE.

“Mrs. GREEN APPLE was selected as the inaugural Best Artist last year at MAJ and was also nominated this year. However, their appearance at the ceremony had not been announced in advance, and their name was not included on the appearance list distributed to the press.

However, according to FRIDAY’s reporting, an executive at a record label said that MAJ organizers had been in behind-the-scenes negotiations with Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s agency about appearing. There were also growing expectations among fans,” said the aforementioned reporter.

When the trio appeared on the red carpet in kimono-style attire, not only the audience and fans but even members of the press reportedly expressed surprise.

Mrs. GREEN APPLE won the Best Artist Award for the second consecutive year. At the opening of the latter half of the ceremony, they performed their hit song “Kusushiki” from the previous year. That day, all of Japan was swept up in the intoxication of the music festival.
