“Wow Signal” to Finally Be Observed Simultaneously in Japan Starting Next August!

The existence of extraterrestrials may finally be revealed…

“There is intelligent life beyond Earth. I want to find out where they are.”

These are the words of Shinya Narusawa (61), an astronomer at Hyogo Prefectural University and a leading expert in the search for extraterrestrial intelligent life (all comments below are from him).

Since May, the U.S. Department of Defense has begun sequentially releasing photos and classified documents related to Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP). The site received over 1 billion views in two weeks, signaling a growing interest in unknown phenomena such as extraterrestrials. In Japan, to investigate the existence of extraterrestrials, Narusawa and others launched the “Japan SETI Research Group” in April of this year (SETI stands for Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence).

“In the universe, just within our visible range, there are far more stars than there are grains of sand on all the beaches in the world. It’s an astronomical number—23 zeros (a trillion times a billion). While a significant series of coincidences is required for life to evolve to a high level, it is still natural to assume that intelligent life exists in the universe beyond humanity.”

The “Wow! Signal” is evidence of that possibility. In August 1977, an antenna in Ohio, USA, received a powerful radio signal from the direction of Sagittarius for 72 seconds. When the scientists, exclaiming “Wow!”, investigated it, they found it clearly possessed artificial characteristics.

“The 1,420 MHz frequency we received is one that is prohibited for transmission from Earth. The bandwidth was also narrow, making it unlikely that it originated from a celestial body.Based on the duration of the observation, it cannot be attributed to an airplane or a satellite; the only explanation is that it was transmitted by extraterrestrial intelligent life. Since then, the same signal has never been observed again, and it remains a great mystery.”

Mr. Narusawa and other members of “Japan SETI” will point their antennas toward Sagittarius from the observatory in Kimino Town, Wakayama Prefecture, next August—marking the 50th anniversary of the Wow! Signal.

“It’s a challenge to receive the Wow! Signal again. We’re calling on astronomers in Japan and abroad to point their antennas in the same direction during the summer. If we all do it at the same time, the chances of receiving a signal from intelligent life will increase. The accuracy of radio wave analysis has also improved significantly compared to 50 years ago. If the received radio waves contain some kind of message, we might be able to decode it.”

Depending on the results of next summer’s reception, human history could be drastically rewritten.
