Tochigi Robbery and Murder: Wife Mie Takemae, the Suspect: A Girl Bullied for Her Appearance Became a Bully in Her School Days
at his parents’ home in Nagano before the incident.
On the morning of May 14, boys broke into a private house in Kamimikawa-cho, Tochigi Prefecture, and killed the resident Eiko Tomiyama, 69, and injured her two sons who lived with her in the robbery and murder case. In both cases, it was discovered that the 16-year-old boys had received instructions using a communication app during the crimes. The Tochigi Prefectural Police and Kanagawa Prefectural Police joint task force has so far arrested two suspects, Kaito Takemae (28) and Miyui Takemae (25), an unemployed couple believed to have acted as the “instructor” in the “Tokuryu incident.
When we interviewed the “wife of the instructor,” we found that the local community was perplexed and shocked.
Miyui was born and raised in Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture. Around her current family home, Miyui was seen returning home with her husband, Kaito, and their newborn infant before the incident.
A female resident in her fifties who lives nearby recalls the scene as follows.
A female resident in her fifties who lives nearby recalls what she saw: “I think it was about two or three months ago. I saw the couple with their newborn baby, going home to their parents’ house. I saw other members of the family coming out with them. The husband was unfamiliar to me, so I guessed he was probably just showing his face to his parents or greeting them. The whole family went out together.
The female resident spoke carefully about her first impressions of Kaito and Miyu.
The husband looked a little tough or scary at first glance. His skin was white and he was about 175 centimeters tall. He had a round face and a solid build. I remember he wore thin or black-rimmed glasses and his hair was short or bowed. When I said ‘Hello’ to him, he usually greeted me back. Mi-Yui’s hair was a chestnut shade, although that was the only time we saw each other, as we rarely saw her on a regular basis. At first glance, I got the impression that the couple was a bit ‘naughty,’ but they were not strange at all; from all appearances they were a happy young couple themselves.”
Although they appeared to the neighbors as a “happy young couple,” testimonies from Miyui’s elementary and junior high school classmates reveal a different side to the couple.
In a word, they describe Mie as a mischievous, mischievous person. He had problems relating to others and did not have many friends. It was only when she reached the impressionable age of second grade that her true temperament began to become apparent to those around her.
A male classmate, who went to elementary and junior high school with her, said, “She was a very good student, but she was not a good student at all. At the time, Miyui had some conflicts with those around her over her appearance.
She is now a sophisticated and beautiful girl, but at the time she was not a strikingly beautiful woman. At the time, she was not a noticeably beautiful woman, and was the target of merciless teasing by boys who would call her ugly. I think she was aware that boys looked at her coldly, and she often turned to female students of the same sex to vent her hurt and frustration. Because of this background, he probably did not have many friends he could trust, even within the girl group.
The mother of a classmate revealed an episode that became a rumor among parents around the brass band club Miyui was a member of in junior high school.

She underwent cosmetic surgery.
She was on the side of the bullies in the club at the time, and was said to have been on the side of the assailants who hunted down their targets. When I heard this, I couldn’t believe my ears. It was a very serious topic of conversation among the guardians. When I learned of this tragic incident, I felt as if I had understood that the child had always had two sides to her, and I had mixed feelings about it.
After graduating from junior high school, Miyui went on to a prefectural high school, which is considered a middle-class school in her hometown. In the school’s unique culture, in which club activities are referred to as “groups,” he was a member of the baton group (club) and devoted himself to dancing and marching in support of the baseball team. Rumors circulated during her high school days that she had a boyfriend, and she seemed to be enjoying her high school life.
However, she experienced a setback when she took the university entrance exam. A female classmate who says she received a sudden SNS friend request from the suspect Miyui remembers the unnatural distance between them and the SNS transition.
She said, “In junior high school, we were never in the same class and belonged to different clubs, but one day she suddenly sent me a Facebook friend request and left a strange impression on me, saying, ‘She’s a bit eccentric. A peek at her other SNS accounts revealed that she had been deeply passionate about the Korean idol group BTS ever since that time, and her daily postings were in Korean, describing what was on her mind at the time. I had heard that she was also an avid student of dance school in her private life.
When it came time for the university entrance examinations, the social networking service was full of comments such as
[Seth] “This year’s entrance examinations for private universities were very difficult.
She complained on social networking sites that she could not pass the entrance exam for her first choice of university. He later went on to a university in Kanagawa Prefecture and began living alone.
After I left my parents and started living on my own, I didn’t depend entirely on their remittances; I earned my living expenses by holding down a part-time job on my own, and I also visited my parents’ house frequently. However, after that period, things started to go a little out of kilter for her. …… She started getting cosmetic surgery, going to overpriced beauty salons, and other posts that showed her desire for self-expression became noticeable. Perhaps it was her own strong rebellious spirit against the teasing she received from boys in junior high school about her appearance. Even so, her devotion to idols was the same as before, and she was still trading limited-edition goods over the Internet and enthusiastically going to live shows.
Miyui was also enthusiastically posting dance videos of herself on TikTok.
She said, “When I look at my TikTok videos, I don’t see any of my local friends or anything. I got the impression that she was kept at a distance from everyone around her. But she was smart to some extent, and I just couldn’t see her as the kind of girl who would be directing a black market job.
The girl was teased by boys because of her appearance, and turned to bullying female students in the classroom. Then, she became a victim of the dark side of the Internet and transformed herself into an “instructor” of burglars who, from the safety of her own home, forced 16-year-old boys to pick up chestnuts from the fire.
The true “backstage face” of the suspect Mihui, who is said to have been coldly giving instructions on the other side of the communication app on the day of the crime, is being unraveled.
