What Are They Doing in Uguisudani? Ikeda Elaiza, Ai Hashimoto and Non Surprise Locals with a Stylish Outing
At the Holy Ground of “Shall We Dance?”
A woman in sunglasses and a sleeveless black dress strides gracefully through a nighttime neighborhood filled with the nostalgic atmosphere of the Showa era. The woman is actress and fashion model Elaiza Ikeda (30).
On May 14, the Italian fashion brand Miu Miu held the event “Miu Jazz Club” at DANCE HALL Shinseiki (hereafter “Shinseiki”), located near JR Uguisudani Station in Taito Ward, Tokyo, to celebrate the reopening of its Ginza store. Many celebrities attended the event.
“Shinseiki opened in 1969 and is the oldest dance hall in Tokyo, with a floor space of about 100 tsubo (approximately 330 square meters). It is also known as a filming location for the movie ‘Shall We Dance?.’ It is located beyond the area around Uguisudani Station lined with love hotels, and the surrounding buildings have a nostalgic charm. The event that day created an enchanting atmosphere reminiscent of an elegant gathering place for adults,” said a fashion magazine reporter.
Ikeda arrived at around 10:30 p.m. The moment she stepped out of a chauffeured vehicle parked along a main road a short distance from Shinseiki, two businessmen-looking men reacted with surprised expressions, exclaiming, “Whoa!” It seemed that passersby quickly realized who she was.
Ikeda hurriedly put on her sunglasses in an attempt to disguise herself, but her striking figure and unmistakable aura could not be hidden. Her walk to Shinseiki was as glamorous as a runway at a fashion show.
A little earlier, actresses Ai Hashimoto (30) and Non (32) had left the venue.
They were surrounded by a large group of staff members to shield them from public view, but those who noticed them still stopped to watch.
Hashimoto is currently starring in the Fuji TV drama “Fūfu Bessei Keiji (Married Couple with Separate Surnames Detective),” where the short bob hairstyle she wears has been well received by viewers. On this day, she styled her short bob with a wet-look finish and wore a casual outfit consisting of a white nylon jacket with black check lines, an ultra-mini skirt, and white sneakers.
After walking a short distance to the main road, they discovered that their pickup vehicle had not yet arrived, forcing them to wait on the street while many people watched from afar.
Meanwhile, Non wore a blue shirt layered with a sheer black lace top featuring a striking design, paired with a matching tight skirt. The ensemble drew attention as an apron look.
Non had recently served as the MC of the terrestrial variety show “Ai to Chishiki to Non to Nobu” (“Love, Knowledge, Non and Nobu”), which aired on MBS/TBS on May 24. At the beginning of the program, when Nobu (46) of the comedy duo Chidori asked how she came to host the show, she replied with a smile:
“I couldn’t imagine myself being an MC. I didn’t think it would actually happen, but I was happy just to be asked.”
After the broadcast, social media was filled with comments such as, “Non was seriously great as an MC,” and “She was amazing in her own way,” indicating that the response was overwhelmingly positive.
On that night, the downtown dance hall appeared to remain lively until late into the night with a gathering of some of the biggest stars of the moment.
