‘I didn’t think it would be easy to get pregnant’

On May 21, the Tokyo District Court sentenced 22-year-old Zuria Saegusa to three years and six months in prison for the murder of a baby she gave birth to at a girls’ bar where she worked. The trial revealed the defendant’s selfish and poor motive for committing the crime.

According to the indictment, Saegusa gave birth in the bathroom in September 2013 while working at a girls’ bar in Ikebukuro (Toshima Ward), Tokyo. When the baby screamed, she thought she would be fired from the bar and lose her job if word of the birth got out, so she strangled the baby to death. He then dumped the body in a trash can inside the restroom.

At his first trial on May 14, when asked about the details of the indictment, the defendant Saegusa admitted in a small voice, “There is no doubt.

At the trial on the following day, May 15, the defendant was questioned, and details of his unfortunate childhood and the day of the crime were revealed. Dressed in a black pants suit, Saegusa had a blank expression on his face. The ends of his shoulder-length hair were still brown, as they were when he was arrested.

Saegusa’s parents and two older sisters were close to his family. However, his father passed away when he was in the first grade of elementary school, and his life took a dark turn. His mother became an alcoholic and spent most of the day in a drunken stupor, and her room was littered with empty alcohol cans and bottles. In order to avoid his mother, Saegusa began to lock himself in his room. A friend of his mother’s took him to a convenience store for meals and took care of him.

In the fifth grade, she stopped going to school after being bullied by a male student. Saegusa began to suppress her emotions, and her older sister scolded her, saying, “Don’t shut up” and “Do you think you can get away with it if you cry?

When he was in the second year of junior high school, his mother passed away. With the support of her older sister, she graduated from high school and moved to Tokyo in 2010 to enter a beauty school, but she did not fit in at the school and eventually stopped going. She squandered her money on clothes and guesswork, and fell behind on her rent. Her older sister asked her to return to her parents’ house, but she refused, and began staying at an acquaintance’s house. He then began working part-time at a cabaret club and other places, and in ’23 began working at the girls’ bar where the crime took place. There he met a customer, Ms. A.

They started dating in November of the same year, agreeing to a long-distance relationship because Ms. A lived in the Kansai region. They had sexual intercourse several times, but did not use contraception each time. When asked by the defense attorney, “Why didn’t you use contraception?” When asked by the defense attorney, “Why didn’t you use contraception?

I didn’t think it would be easy to get pregnant.

I thought it was impossible to get pregnant easily,” he replied. However, in February 2013, Ms. A suspected Mr. Saegusa of cheating on her and blocked his LINE. In March of the same year, she realized she was pregnant, but because she had blocked the line, she was unable to contact him. In September of the same year, Ms. A visited the restaurant again, but did not tell him she was pregnant, saying she was afraid he would reject her.

Even after the pregnancy was discovered, she did not go to the hospital to see the doctor herself. She cited as reasons for this the fact that her purse was stolen at her workplace and that she did not have her ID on her, etc. “If I had talked to my sister about it, she would have been angry,” she said,

She said, “If I talked to my sister, she would get angry with me. If I talked to my sister, she would get angry with me, and if I talked to the store, I would be fired.

He did not discuss the matter with others, thinking, “If I talk to my sister, she will get angry with me. At the time, a friend at the place where she was staying also asked her to leave, so she left her belongings at a girls’ bar where she worked and lived in an Internet cafe. She searched for information about pregnancy on the Internet,

“If it was a girl, I would put ‘beauty’ in the name, and if it was a boy, I would put ‘star’ in the name,” she said.

If it was a boy, I would put ‘star’ in the name. Then, on September 22, the incident occurred.

I put it in the trash.”

She was on the late shift that day, but the manager asked her to come in early because the early shift staff was absent. However, while on duty, she suffered severe nausea and back pain, and had to go back and forth between the waiting room and the restroom several times, after which she gave birth in the restroom. Because the baby had given birth,

She said, “I didn’t know what to do. …… I put my hand on the baby’s neck to make it stop crying for the time being,” she said, her voice trembling.

I put my hand on the baby’s neck to make her stop crying,” he said, his voice trembling.

I thought it was impossible to take her out of the bathroom, so I put her in the trash,” she recalled.

I put the baby in the trash. There was nothing else in the trash, so he covered the baby with a tissue so that others would not see it.

After leaving the restroom, Saegusa changed from his blood-stained white clothes to black clothes in the waiting room, but the manager noticed something was wrong and asked, “What happened? The manager noticed something was wrong and asked, “What happened? After telling him what had happened in the restroom, he said, “I’m going to turn myself in,” and headed toward the police on that foot.

When asked about the factors that led to the crime,

I had my sister and government agencies to rely on, but I was too afraid of being angry with them or being betrayed, so I couldn’t talk to them about it,” he confessed.

He also expressed his repentance for the baby’s death. As for the baby who died, he said, “I want to show it to my father and mother,

“I want my father and mother to see him, so I want to put him in the same grave.

I would like to put him in the same grave with my father and mother. When asked about his feelings toward the baby, he replied, “I didn’t give birth to him and raise him properly,

I am truly sorry that I was not able to give birth to him and raise him properly. I am truly sorry for what I did to him for my own selfish reasons.

He shed tears.

The prosecution had asked for a six-year custodial sentence, and the defense had asked for a stay of execution, but the Tokyo District Court ruled that the sentence should be suspended,

The prosecution had asked for a six-year custodial sentence, and the defense had asked for a stay of execution,
