<h2>Meguro says to Takahashi, “Please go ahead”</h2>
<p data-start="160" data-end="492">Two handsome men appear together sharing an umbrella in the rain. The sharply defined young man in a black suit with a vivid blue shirt and striking eyes is Fumiya Takahashi (25). And the tall man with long hair tied back, also in a black suit and stylishly wearing a patterned shirt, is none other than Ren Meguro (29) of Snow Man.</p>
<p data-start="494" data-end="719">On April 27, a red-carpet event for the upcoming film &#8220;SAKAMOTO DAYS&#8221; was held at LaLaport Toyosu Seaside Deck (Koto Ward, Tokyo), featuring Meguro, co-star Takahashi, director Yūichi Fukuda (57), and other main cast members.</p>
<p data-start="721" data-end="1269"><strong>“The work is based on the manga of the same name by Yuto Suzuki (32), serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) since November 2020. It has surpassed a total of 15 million copies in circulation worldwide (including digital). Meguro plays the protagonist Taro Sakamoto, a former elite assassin. He portrays Sakamoto in two forms: the everyday version, a 140-kg convenience store owner of ‘Sakamoto Shop’ using heavy makeup, and a drastically slimmed-down version in serious mode who performs superhuman action scenes,”</strong> said a film magazine writer.</p>
<p data-start="1271" data-end="1569">Meanwhile, Takahashi plays Shin Asakura, Sakamoto’s former subordinate from his assassin days, who has retired from killing and now works part-time at Sakamoto Shop. Although they play a master–disciple relationship in the film, their real-life interaction at the event also reflected that dynamic.</p>
<p data-start="1571" data-end="2140">On the day of the event, as mentioned, it was raining heavily. The two arrived together from the location bus. Takahashi walked with an umbrella in a composed manner, while Meguro walked beside him coolly with one hand in his pocket. It truly looked like a hitman master and disciple duo. As they approached the entrance gate where staff checked credentials, Meguro flashed a slightly playful expression and gestured with his right hand as if saying, “Please go ahead,” letting Takahashi enter first. Takahashi responded with a wry smile, as if to say, “Oh, come on.”</p>
<p data-start="2142" data-end="2337">When Meguro appeared at the event venue, fans shouted “Welcome back!” Meguro had been filming an overseas drama in Canada and this was his first appearance in front of fans in about three months.</p>
<p data-start="2339" data-end="2390">During the talk event, Takahashi said about Meguro:</p>
<p data-start="2392" data-end="2743"><strong>“It’s not something you can just brush off by saying he’s having a hard time. I was with him both in his heavy and slim forms, and Meguro-san basically doesn’t sit down, as fans probably know. He only sometimes sits when he’s in his heavier form. But even then, sometimes he doesn’t sit. So I was constantly watching Meguro-san and moving with him.”</strong></p>
<p data-start="2745" data-end="2820">Showing his junior disciple consideration, he revealed. Meguro responded:</p>
<p data-start="2822" data-end="2912"><strong>“I’m a bit shocked. But I guess it’s fine now. I feel like we’ve become pretty close now.”</strong></p>
<p data-start="2914" data-end="2928">He then added:</p>
<p data-start="2930" data-end="3181"><strong>“There are many things in daily life that feel frustrating or disappointing, but I hope people can watch ‘SAKAMOTO DAYS’, feel refreshed and laugh, and think, ‘I’ll try my best again tomorrow,’ or something like that. That would make me really happy.”</strong></p>
<p data-start="3183" data-end="3272" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="">The exchange between the handsome master and disciple is definitely something to watch.</p>
