Concern from viewers over his appearance during livestream

Yuya Takaki (36) of Hey! Say! JUMP opened his personal Instagram account on July 9, 2025. Recently, he has been frequently doing Instagram Live streams, enjoying casual private interactions with fans through comments.

However, during a livestream held in early April, he had visible injuries around his forehead and nose, and reported that he had gotten injured while drunk, which led to concern from viewers.

On April 2, Takaki began an Instagram livestream before the live broadcast of his radio program “Yuya Takaki’s YOU YAKAI” (FM Osaka), where he serves as the host. During the stream, viewers apparently noticed what looked like an injury on his forehead, and he laughed while explaining, “I got injured while drunk.”

“Takaki said, ‘Look, see?’ while shifting the position of his sunglasses and showing a wound under his eyebrow as well. Even while saying ‘This is bad, right?’, he didn’t seem to take it very seriously.

In another Instagram livestream after his live radio broadcast, he again addressed the injury and jokingly said, ‘I got into a fight!’ He also responded to viewers’ screenshot requests during a screenshot time, posing with his hands on his face to cleverly cover the injured area.” (Entertainment writer)

Takaki’s starring stage production “Gin Rock Lime” opened on March 10. Following the livestream, he had performances scheduled in Hiroshima on April 4–5 and later in Fukuoka on April 25–26.

Although it is unclear whether his statement about being injured while drunk is true, fans reacted to it with concern and criticism, saying:

〈“I’m glad it wasn’t anything serious this time, but his face is his instrument—he should take better care of it. He’s in the middle of a stage run too.”〉

〈“I thought he just got injured while drunk after seeing the wound but he should be more careful during performances.”〉

〈“Getting a facial injury from drinking he should really go easy on alcohol.”〉

〈“After watching his livestream, the injury was worse than I expected. It’s not okay for an idol’s face to be covered in wounds.”〉

Concerns and mixed reactions were voiced by fans.

Remembered alcohol-related troubles involving former Johnny’s talents, prompted by Takaki’s case

This time, Takaki’s injuries did not appear serious enough to interfere with work, and his starring stage play safely reached its final performance. Still, excessive drinking can easily develop into major trouble.

“Even back in the old Johnny’s days, there were many cases of talents from the agency causing problems while intoxicated. The biggest scandals included former SMAP member Tsuyoshi Kusanagi (51) and TOKIO’s Tatsuya Yamaguchi (54).

In April 2009, Kusanagi was arrested on the spot on suspicion of public indecency after getting drunk and causing a disturbance naked in a park in Minato Ward, Tokyo. He was later not indicted (suspended prosecution) and returned to work about a month later,” said the same source quoted earlier.

Meanwhile, it came to light in April 2018 that Yamaguchi had been referred to prosecutors on suspicion of committing an indecent act against a high school girl (he was later given suspended prosecution as well). Because of the scandal, he left TOKIO and departed the former Johnny’s agency on May 6 of that year.

However, in September 2020, he shocked the public again when he was arrested on the spot on suspicion of violating traffic laws (drunk driving) after riding a motorcycle while intoxicated. Since then, Yamaguchi has confronted his alcohol addiction and currently gives lectures such as crisis-management seminars aimed at eliminating drunk driving.

“Also, Yuto Nakajima (32), who left JUMP as of August 28, 2025, was previously scooped by Shukan Bunshun (Bungeishunju) over the so-called ‘drunken 110 call’ incident back in May 2016 while he was still in the group.

In the early morning of April 1 that year, a woman in her 30s called emergency services claiming that a man hugged her on the street and such. When police officers arrived, Nakajima was reportedly there in a heavily intoxicated state. Although no criminal complaint was filed, the agency responded to reporters by saying things like, ‘He deeply regrets his actions,’ and apologized to related parties,” the source continued.

Meanwhile, the former Johnny’s officially relaunched as STARTO ENTERTAINMENT in April 2024. Another incident involved former Aぇ! group member Richard Keita Kusama (30), who was reportedly arrested last October on suspicion of public indecency for exposing his lower body on a street in Shinjuku, and reports at the time said he had been heavily intoxicated. In the end, he received a summary order (a 100,000-yen fine), left the group, and is now active as a solo artist.

When alcohol-related trouble occurs, the price to pay can be enormous. One hopes people will exercise self-control and drink in moderation.
