On April 21, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department re-arrested a public junior high school teacher, Ko Yamaguchi, 28, for indecent assault of a teenage girl on charges of non-consensual sexual intercourse, photographing sexual acts, and violation of the Child Prostitution and Child Pornography Law (manufacturing).

Yamaguchi is suspected of having had sexual intercourse with an underage girl in September 2012 at an apartment in Katsushika Ward, where he was living at the time, and of having filmed and saved the scene with a smartphone. In January of this year, when the girl blocked Yamaguchi’s LINE and tried to cut off contact with him, an angry Yamaguchi sent her threatening messages such as, ‘I will now expose indecent images on the Internet.

The incident came to light after the girl’s guardian consulted the police. Yamaguchi was arrested in March on suspicion of making threats and subsequently charged. When questioned, he admitted to the charges, saying, ‘There is no doubt about it.

At 8:00 a.m. on April 22, Yamaguchi emerged from the Katsushika Police Station at the head of a group of suspects being sent to the police station for investigation. He appeared with his face down and his hands covering his face. He was wearing shaggy hair and a mask, but his face was completely obscured. It appeared as if he was praying for something.

Although his job is to watch over and support the growth of children, Yamaguchi committed an indecent act, and when his contact was cut off, he turned on him and became almost like a stalker. What kind of existence did children have in his mind?

It is not so much that “it happens because they are teachers,” but rather that “some people who are in a position to have a lot of contact with minors go out of line.
