Nogizaka46’s Mitsuki Setoguchi Named ViVi Beauty Ambassador, Says Beauty Boosts Mind and Body Positivity

Indeed, Mitsuki Setoguchi (20) of Nogizaka46, who was appointed as a “ViVi Beauty Ambassador” starting with the June issue of ViVi (released April 23), seems to embody the perfect charm for a beauty ambassador.

According to the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Setoguchi captured her attention during the Nogizaka46 6th-generation debut showcase, where she performed a full-power cheerleading routine with an unforgettable presence.

Below are Setoguchi’s thoughts on her appointment and her aspirations in beauty:

“When I received the offer from my favorite magazine ViVi, I simply felt full of gratitude and said, ‘Thank you very much!’ Since I was in the cheerleading club in high school, I think I naturally learned how to perform with a full, bright smile. But I believe the real challenge starts now that I’ve become a ViVi Beauty Ambassador. I want to become knowledgeable about all areas—makeup, skincare, and hair care.”

She says she is still a beginner when it comes to beauty.

“The only thing I’ve really been consistent about is putting on a sheet mask every night after taking a bath. But even just using sheet masks, I could really feel the benefits. My skin, which used to be prone to breakouts, has calmed down a lot. Since I’ve started a new column in ViVi called ‘Bi • Yattemitsuki,’ I want to learn many things together with readers and share different aspects of beauty.”

In the group’s 40th single “Biryani,” released last November, she served as a double center alongside Moeka Yada (18). While she has a glamorous image, her favorite color is surprisingly…

“Black. I’m from Kagoshima, and for some reason, even my family tends to prefer dark-colored clothing. It’s only been about a year since I moved to Tokyo, but I’ve experienced a bit of culture shock—everyone on the streets wears such colorful outfits. I want to study more about what colors suit different people.”

Her name, “Mitsuki,” was chosen by her parents with the hope that she would grow into someone who “brightens people’s hearts.”

“I want to live up to my name through ViVi. Beautiful beauty can make both mind and body more positive. As an ambassador, my dream is to brighten even a little of the readers’ hearts.”
