What is Steam?

A human who is reincarnated as a hamster and lives with three beautiful sisters… an unprecedented live-action romance game: “Hamkoi – A Sweet Everyday Life with the Three Sisters and Me, Reincarnated as a Hamster.”

It has been announced that the game will begin distribution this July, but there are likely many people who are thinking, “How do you play it?” or “What is Steam?”

So, we had Sayaka Tomaru, who plays the eldest sister Himari Ichima, try adding it to her Steam wishlist.

—First, please search for “Steam.”

Tōmaru: “Su, Steam? S, T… what comes next?”

Tomaru, awkwardly touching the computer with unfamiliar hands.

—“S,” “T,” “E,” “A,” “M”!

Tomaru: (typing hesitantly on the keyboard) “Ah, it came up. So this is Steam. I’m going to click it!”

“Steam” is a platform that allows you to play games on a PC. It was created in the United States in 2003, and has since spread worldwide, now boasting over 130 million monthly users. Famous titles such as “Monster Hunter Wilds,” “Street Fighter 6,” and the “Dragon Quest” series can be played without a dedicated game console.

In addition, there are also games exclusive to Steam. Classic early titles from series like “Final Fantasy” and “Rockman,” as well as arcade games that once took the gaming world by storm, can also be played on this cutting-edge platform.

—Next, please create a Steam account.

Tomaru: “Oh, so you need an account. Let’s click ‘Create an account’.”

If this is your first time using Steam, you will need to click “Create an account.”

Tomaru: “It looks like I need to enter an email address! I’ll just put in my email.”

—(Staff silently keeps taking photos)

Tomaru: “Stop it! Don’t expose my email address to the world!”

A confirmation email will be sent to the address you entered.

—A verification email will be sent to the address you entered, so please click the blue button that says “Verify email address.”

Tomaru: “Okay! Next, I need to decide an account name and password.”

—“Why not just ‘TOMARUMARU’?”

Tomaru: “Stop it! If you say it here, everyone will be able to log in!”

“Oh, it’s done. So you can create an account with just an email address—that’s easy.”

Steam account creation can also be done on a smartphone. By the way, your account name cannot be changed later, so be careful.

What is a wish list?

—Next, let’s try adding “Hamkoi” to your wishlist.

Tomaru: “There are so many games listed! I just need to type it into the ‘Search the store’ box at the top, right? Wait, how do I switch to katakana again. I’m not sure, so I’ll just type it in hiragana.”

—It won’t show up like that. After typing, press “F7.”

Tomaru: “It turned into katakana! I see ‘Hamkoi’ under the search box. Here I go.”

I found “Hamkoi!”

—Here is the “Hamkoi” page.

Tomaru: “My photo is here too!? That’s embarrassing!”

Note: Depending on account settings, the game may not appear in search results. In that case, searching “Hamkoi Steam” on Google will take you to the store page.

—Now, let’s add it to your wishlist.

Tomaru: “Wait, what exactly is a wishlist again?”

A wishlist is, in simple terms, a favorites or save list. If you add a game you’re interested in to your wishlist, you’ll receive notifications such as when it launches or goes on sale, making it a very convenient feature.

Add to Wish List!

—Now, please click the green “Add to Wishlist” button.

Tomaru: “Done! It changed to ‘Added to Wishlist.’ I tried it, and there wasn’t anything difficult at all.”

The Steam page for “Hamkoi” is also planning to release a demo version. Before the official launch, players will be able to experience a preview of the story featuring the sexy three sisters, played by Tōmaru Saya, Takatsuru Momowa, and Ikemoto Shiori.
