<p> To find out more, we held a &#8220;Minato-ku Girls Specializing in Baseball Players Roundtable Discussion&#8221; with Reno (pseudonym), who works at a financial institution in Tokyo, Maki, a nursery school teacher, and Maiko, a university student. We asked them to talk about the &#8220;nightlife&#8221; of professional baseball players, which is something that cannot be seen on the baseball field.</p>
<p> &#8211;First of all, could you tell us how you came to attend drinking parties with baseball players?</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent">Lino:</span> The owner of a bar I frequented was the family member of a former professional baseball manager, and through that connection, I was invited to join the Central League players&#8217; drinking parties. He asked me to come along with him because &#8220;just being an old man isn&#8217;t glamorous enough. Once I joined the party, I started getting invitations directly from the players I had met, and the invitations started coming in a steady stream.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent">Maki:</span> I originally got my allowance by drinking with business owners in the Minato-ku area, and there was a pitcher from a Tokyo baseball team at a drinking party with a president I was good friends with. He liked me, and after we got into a physical relationship, I began to have a series of blind dates with teammates all the time. That player also has a girlfriend, so neither he nor I care who each other is sleeping with.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent">Maiko:</span> I was working part-time at a ballpark and was picked up by a player from a Pacific League team in the employee corridor there, so I started drinking with young players who were close in age. Since I am a college student, I have plenty of time to spare, and I also go to support them on their expeditions. They give me money for transportation and pocket money and get me tickets. It depends on the team, but there are usually two seats per player, and there is an invitation limit. I sometimes sneak into the players&#8217; rooms at the hotel where they are staying.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent">Reno:</span> I am also invited to the tour on Saturdays and Sundays. The last time I went to Hokkaido, there was a cheerleader girl from the baseball team in another invitation seating &#8230;&#8230;. She seemed to be dating the main infielder who provided the tickets, but I thought that was a bold thing to do, even though romance between players and cheerleaders is prohibited. It&#8217;s part of the fun to get to know these players&#8217; love affairs better.</p>

<p><span class="strongInContent">Maiko:</span> Mr. A, a pitcher in the rotation of a Central League team, liked me and we went to a hotel after a drinking session. After taking a shower, I sat down on the bed, all ready to go, and he suddenly pulled out an iPad from his bag. I couldn&#8217;t help but ask, &#8220;What&#8217;s going on?&#8221; I asked him, &#8220;Look at my pitching the other day!　Of course he was pitching out of the bullpen. My control was a bit finicky in the bullpen before the game, but from the 3rd inning on, my straight pitches started catching my fingers,&#8221; he began to explain his pitching.</p>
<p> I also like baseball, so I said, &#8220;You know, Mr. A, when you&#8217;re in good shape, you can get in and out of a ball for one! I said, &#8220;You know what I mean!　Then let&#8217;s go to &#8230;&#8230;.&#8221; He said, &#8220;He&#8217;s got his own pitching video. I was like, &#8220;This guy doesn&#8217;t think his pitching video is foreplay!&#8221; My emotions were all messed up (laughs).</p>

<p><span class="strongInContent">Maki:</span> I have fond memories of being invited to a drinking party with Mr. B, a Central League superstar infielder whom I had always admired. It was at a bar in Roppongi with a private room, and there were five girls, including myself, with Mr. B and four other young players from that team. When I arrived at the bar, there were already sitting on either side of Mr. B the most beautiful women I had ever seen.</p>
<p> I was told that these two girls were fierce drinkers who had been invited to Mr. B&#8217;s drinking parties for many years, and I, being invited by the younger players, was left out of the mosquito net. Still, I managed to get close enough to talk to them, but I was blocked by the ladies on both sides of me. &#8230;&#8230; Then Mr. B pointed at me and said, &#8220;Hey XX, why don&#8217;t you go home with this girl? In the end, the young player took me out of the restaurant halfway by force.</p>
<p> Later, the young player told me, &#8220;If Mr. B doesn&#8217;t like a girl who comes to a drinking party, he makes us take her home with us. His routine is to drink only with beautiful girls he approves of, and at the end of the night, he picks out his favorite among them to take home. But Maki is one of the better ones.
