Nozomi Morita “City Hunter 2” “incense” shot found! He is holding the bundle of Saeba’s “beloved car”.
Suzuki and Morita are back as the “Maki x Kaoru” duo!
Sitting in the driver’s seat of a retro bright red Mini Cooper, actor Nozomi Morita (29) gazes into the distance with serious eyes.
In mid-March, filming for the Netflix movie “City Hunter 2,” scheduled for release in ’27, was taking place on the grounds of a park in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
It is a sequel to the live-action “City Hunter.”‘ The movie, which was distributed in ’24, was a huge hit, ranking in the top 10 weekly in 32 countries and regions around the world, including South Korea and France. Immediately after that, fans from all over the world started to expect the production of a sequel.
Suzuki Ryohei (43), who plays the role of Saeba Ryou, professes to be a big fan of the original manga, and at the premiere screening held in April 2012 in Kabukicho, Shinjuku, where the story takes place, he called out, “If you want to see the sequel, please shout ‘I want to see this sequel’ in all sorts of places. (If you want to see the sequel), please shout out ‘I want to see the rest of this movie’ in various places,” a writer for a movie magazine said.
The heroine, Kaori Makimura, played by Morita, is a buddy of the top-class sweeper (contractor), Tsuyoshi, who is based in Shinjuku and undertakes to solve various troubles in the underworld. In the previous film, the story centered on Kaori’s encounter with獠 as she pursues the truth behind her brother’s death.
“If the series is made into a series, will it be produced with the same cast as the previous film?” was the biggest concern for fans.
Morita won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in last year’s film “Night Flower.” Since then, she has appeared in two films, “Not Soon, Farewell,” and “Rental Family,” and has another movie coming out this fall.’ She is also busy starring in the NHK television series “Touring Swan” in the first half of the 27th season.
Rumors of a “City Hunter” sequel have been circulating since early on, but since no production announcement has been made, some people on social media are concerned that “Morita may not be able to appear in the film.” However, the “City Hunter” sequel was not announced until the end of the year, and some people on SNS were concerned that Morita might not be able to appear in the film.
However, it was decided that Morita’s version of “Aroma” would make another appearance. Fans must have been relieved. The first scene in which we witnessed her on set was the beginning of the filming.
In the original manga, Morita’s favorite car, the “Morris Mini Cooper 1275S Mk-I,” always appeared in famous scenes. This time, it was Morita behind the wheel. However, the car remained stationary during filming. The scene was either a stakeout or staring off into the distance inside the car.
Afterwards, Morita got out of the car and was dressed in ’80s fashion: a pink sweater over a striped shirt, blue jeans, and leather shoes. Surrounded by many staff members, she and Suzuki stood in front of a Mini Cooper for a still photo shoot.
On March 26, Morita posted on her X,
I’m still a novice, but I love Ko-chan and City Hunter, and I’ll do my best!
Morita posted on her X page, “I’m still a novice. Fans were delighted, saying, “The slapstick of the previous film is back again,” and “The dialogue between the two of them was great. We can’t wait to see Suzuki and Morita’s “Sho x Shang” duo again.
