<p>Suzuki starred in the globally hit Netflix movie City Hunter. On March 26, the long-awaited sequel, City Hunter 2, was announced. It is scheduled for worldwide exclusive streaming on Netflix in 2027.</p>
<p><strong>“The original manga by Tsukasa Hojo celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, with total cumulative sales exceeding 50 million copies. The live-action City Hunter film released in 2024 streamed in 32 countries and regions including South Korea and France, reaching the weekly top 10 in all regions,”</strong> explained a film magazine writer.</p>
<p>Suzuki plays the protagonist, Ryo Saeba, a top-class sweeper based in Shinjuku who takes on various underworld troubles. His partner and heroine, Kaori Makimura, is played by Nozomi Morita (29). The previous film focused on their first meeting and early story development.</p>
<p>What will the story of the new film be like?</p>
<p>Filming took place in mid-February at night in Shinjuku, the base of Ryo Saeba, specifically in the Kabukicho hotel district. In one corner, bright filming lights shone as a large staff crew surrounded one tall man, directing cameras and lighting. Wearing a gray coat with wavy hair falling over his forehead, Suzuki portrayed Ryo. During rehearsals, he repeatedly made smirking expressions toward the camera and playfully interacted with young women nearby.</p>
<p>The Netflix official site describes Ryo’s character:</p>
<p><strong>“A notorious lover of beautiful women who loses his restraint when he meets them, but when a job calls, he executes it with extraordinary marksmanship, physical ability, and calm intelligence. This is the cool yet foolish and well-endowed ‘Ryo Saeba.’”</strong></p>
<p>On set, Suzuki’s portrayal of Ryo matched this description perfectly. When meeting a woman wearing a deeply pulled cap, he walked beside her, spotting a neon-lit hotel sign and trying to enter immediately, only for the woman to stop him—a scene from the film.</p>
<p>Regarding the sequel, Suzuki commented:</p>
<p><strong>“The first film depicted the beginning of Ryo and Kaori’s story. In this sequel, we will deliver the most City Hunter-like City Hunter—truly The City Hunter.”</strong> (From Netflix official website)</p>
