The trial of a man who indecently assaulted a junior high school girl in a library took place at the Tokyo District Court on March 2.

Indecent act against a junior high school girl who was studying

I want to teach my son how to study, so may I watch you study?

A 50-year-old man indecently assaulted a junior high school girl who was studying in the library.

By December 11, 2013, the Fukagawa Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department had arrested Masanori Yamacho, 50, a company employee, on suspicion of indecency with non-consent. The case came to light after her mother consulted the police.

Yamacho denied the charges, but it was confirmed that several girls had been subjected to indecent acts at other libraries in Koto Ward, and extra crimes were suspected.

On March 2, the Tokyo District Court held the first trial for Yamacho, who is accused of indecent assault with non-consent, and the trial concluded on the same day.

The prosecutor read out the indictment and the defendant’s opening statement, which revealed that Yamacho took advantage of the girl’s good intentions to commit a despicable crime.

In late November ’25, around noon, the defendant went to a library in Koto Ward and asked Ms. A, who was studying in the children’s reading room, if she could watch her son, who was in the sixth grade of elementary school, because she wanted to teach him how to study, and she would not interfere, After Ms. A agreed, the defendant stood near Ms. A and watched her study. After a while, he decided that he wanted to touch her breasts, so he sat down next to her and put his hands inside her clothes and touched her breasts for about 30 minutes, after which he left the school.

It seems that for about a year the defendant Yamacho had been frequenting a library in Koto Ward, talking to high school girls and junior high school girls there, watching them study nearby, and repeatedly masturbating.

I felt comfortable being next to him.”

He stated that the reason he went to the library was “I was playing ‘Dracula Walk,’ so I went there to recharge my batteries,” and claimed that he did not go there for obscene purposes. While killing time in the library while waiting to recharge his batteries, he saw students studying and was curious about how they were all studying, so he approached them.

Was the defendant Yamacho usually enthusiastic about his children’s education? During the interrogation, his ex-wife, who divorced him after his arrest, stated.

She stated, “I spent more than 10 years with the defendant, but he never took an interest in or was actively involved in the care of our children. At no time did the defendant ever give any thought to the children’s schooling, and only once or twice did he help the children with their homework.”

When defense counsel asked about this statement, “Your ex-wife says it’s a lie that you want to teach your child to study?” Yamacho answered, “When I went shopping for reference books with my child, I thought about how we should study using these reference books. He claimed that he sat near the female student to “teach the child how to study.

After seeing her study many times, Yamacho said, “I began to feel comfortable sitting next to her while she showed me how to study.

He claimed that he had a “devil’s advocate” in committing the crime against Mr. A. “When I was being shown around, I felt like I was being watched,” he said.

When I was being shown the study nearby, my arm happened to hit him on the chest, and I thought I could do something like this. I had a feeling that I had never felt before, and I acted in a different way than usual, as if I had a demon in me.

After about 30 minutes, Yamacho came to his senses, apologized and said, “I don’t like it, I’m really sorry,” and left the scene.

Responsibility commensurate with what one has done.”

On the other hand, Ms. A told the interrogator , “When the criminal put his hands inside my clothes, my mind went blank, and I didn’t know how to start resisting, so I was forced into a situation where I was victimized.

Naturally, he has strong feelings of punishment toward Yamacho and has not accepted any settlement.

On the day of the trial, the court heard arguments.

The prosecution argued that the crime wasa despicable act that took advantage of the characteristics of the library” because the crime was committed in the children’s reading room, which is rarely used by adults, and that the crime was “a selfish and short-sighted attempt to satisfy his own sexual desires, for which there is no room for leniency.

On the other hand, the defense counsel requested a “suspended sentence” on thegrounds that “he can expect to be supervised by his relatives in the future,” and that “he is aware that his behavior of talking to strangers in the library is not normal, and that he is determined not to enter the library.

During the trial, in response to a defense lawyer’s question, “What kind of things are you going to pay attention to in the future?” he replied, “In order to never repeat the same thing again, I will not talk to anyone even if something is bothering me. I think if I do so, I won’t be suspected,” said Yamacho, expressing his remorse.

When Judge Tomohiko Shinomiya said, “You say you will never do anything like this again in the future, but you understand that you have to take responsibility commensurate with what you have done,” he answered, “Yes.

What kind of “responsibility” will Mr. Yamacho, who insisted to the very end that he spoke to Ms. A “not for sexual purposes,” take?

The verdict is scheduled to be handed down on the 12th.
