Suzu Hirose and Misato Morita Showcase Stunning Elegance at the Blue Ribbon Awards

“Is he a real yakuza?”
On stage, actor Suzu Hirose (27) showed off her beautiful décolletage without hesitation. Meanwhile, Misato Morita (29) appeared in a bold outfit highlighting her beautiful legs.
On February 17, the awards ceremony for the 68th Blue Ribbon Awards was held in Tokyo, where Hirose, who won Best Actress, and Morita, who won Best Supporting Actress, took the stage.
“Hirose starred in three films: Kataomoi Sekai, A Pale View of Hills, and Yukite Kaeranu. In Kataomoi, she played a reliable, modern woman working at a real estate company. In A Pale View of Hills, she portrayed a woman who moved to the UK from postwar Nagasaki and lived a strong life. In Yukite, she played a real-life actress loved by two men, who gradually loses her mental balance between them. Her ability to portray completely different roles across the three films was highly praised,” said a film magazine reporter.
Hirose appeared in a black dress by Patou. With high heels and an elegant backless look, her mature appearance drew sighs from the audience.
“The women I played were from different eras, but all of them were strong and determined to survive. Even while struggling, I was blessed with the work, the staff, and my co-stars, and I was able to have a really enjoyable time,” Hirose said.
When asked about how she prepared for playing such different women, she added:
“Rather than focusing heavily on the time period, the characters all had very strong convictions, so I felt like I was constantly burning with intensity throughout the year.”
Morita appeared in a white long dress with a deep slit, also captivating the audience.
“Morita played the bodyguard of the main character, portrayed by Keiko Kitagawa (39), in the film Night Flower. To prepare for the role of a fighter, she gained 7 kilograms through strength training. She has swept major awards including the Hochi Film Awards and the Japan Academy Awards,” the reporter added.
Her toned, beautiful legs visible through the slit naturally drew attention from the audience. When asked what led her to take on the role, Morita said:
“It started when director Eiji Uchida messaged me and asked, ‘Are you athletic?’ I said, ‘Not really, but I’ll do my best if there’s something I can do’ (omitted) I never imagined it would be such a hardcore fighter role, and I kind of regretted saying I’d try my best.”
When asked about her impression of Ryuta Shibuya (38), the vocalist of the rock band SUPER BEAVER who co-starred in the film, she said:
“From the very first scene, he was so intimidating that I thought, ‘Is he an actual yakuza?’ He didn’t talk much, so I wasn’t sure what was going on, but then I realized he was actually shaking from nerves. I thought, ‘He’s such a pure, serious, and sincere person.’ After that, the scariness somehow turned into something kind of cute, and we quickly got along.”
Her comment drew big laughter from the audience, livening up the ceremony.
This year, Hirose will appear in Fahrenheit -320°, the latest stage production by NODA・MAP led by Hideki Noda (70), their first in two years. There are also reports that she will star in a Netflix drama set to be released next year. Meanwhile, Morita is set to star in NHK’s morning drama series Meguru Swan scheduled for the first half of 2027, with filming starting this autumn.
All eyes will be on the continued success of these two this year.
