<h3><span class="strongInContent"> Indecent behavior at a camp for school children</span></h3>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> Around October of last year, I heard that a parent whose child had been a victim had consulted the police. Until then, I honestly thought she was a nice, kind teacher.&#8221;</span></p>
<p> A mother who had sent her child to the day-care center where the arrested child-care worker was working was not so sure.</p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> On February 24, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department&#8217;s Investigation Division 1 re-arrested Masaaki Kimura, 40, a nursery school teacher at a licensed daycare center in Shinjuku Ward, on suspicion of indecent assault. In January 2011, during a school children&#8217;s club camp in Nagano Prefecture, the suspect entered a room where several children were sleeping and touched the lower half of a boy, who was an elementary school student at the time.</span></p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> Kimura was arrested on February 4, 2012 on suspicion of indecent assault of a boy elementary school student during a camp in January &#8217;24. At that time, about 1,200 indecent images were found on Kimura&#8217;s smartphone, of which about 360 were indecent images of children.</span></p>
<p><span class="strongInContent"> Kimura has denied the charges, saying that he did not do it,&#8221; said a reporter from a national newspaper.</span></p>

<p> Speaking of sexual assault of boys by childcare workers, the most recent case that comes to mind is that of Kota Yamashiro, who was sentenced on December 23, 2011 to 13 years in prison (with a maximum sentence of 15 years) for sexually assaulting seven boys at a daycare center in Sumida-ku, Tokyo (the sentence was later confirmed).</p>
<p> Yamashiro had been sexually assaulting a boy for about a year from November 2011 to August 2012, touching the lower <span class="strongInContent">half</span> of the boy&#8217;s body. Since 1919, when he started working at the preschool, the president of the board of directors has interviewed Yamashiro on numerous occasions. However, he insisted each time that he <span class="strongInContent">did not do it</span>, so the damage was never revealed until the father of one of the victim children consulted the police.</p>
<p> Some of the victim children thought he was playing with them and innocently told their parents that they had been victimized. In fact, the security camera in the school that captured the crime scene showed the children laughing even though the sexual assault had taken place.</p>
<p> Some parents also said that when the children told them that they had been victimized, <span class="strongInContent">saying that they had been subjected to disgusting behavior</span>, they thought at the time that the children had misunderstood the situation. After all, it may be more difficult to recognize sexual victimization of boys than girls.</p>

<p> Yamashiro was charged with sexually assaulting eight boys, but he denied <span class="strongInContent">doing so</span> in one of the cases. The victim child had <span class="strongInContent">complained to</span> his guardian <span class="strongInContent">that he was touched on the lower half of his body</span>, but he was acquitted on the grounds that the security camera footage showed Yamashiro inmate moving his fingers on the lower half of the victim child&#8217;s body, but <span class="strongInContent">&#8220;it was not admissible until whether he touched the pubic area</span>.</p>
<p> Currently, the suspect Kimura says he denies the charges <span class="strongInContent">, saying, &#8220;I didn&#8217;t do it.</span> If there were boys who had complained but no images or videos were left behind, how far can the case be taken?</p>
