Hikaru Yamamoto Remembers the Most Memorable Kamen Rider Heroine Moments

Role: Akiko Narumi in Kamen Rider W
“Akiko is a heroine from Osaka with a comedian’s spirit. In the fictional city of Fuuto, where the drama is set, she claims to be the head of her father’s detective agency and works alongside the protagonists to solve cases caused by monsters. She’s skilled at delivering comebacks, and a scene where she strikes with green slippers that appear out of nowhere became a topic of conversation. With the golden lettering on the slippers showing the comebacks, Akiko’s green slippers have become her trademark (laughs). I wanted to respect the world and characters of Kamen Rider, so I performed without thinking about looking cute on camera at all.
The filming of the shipboard scene in episode 42 remains a memorable experience. We stayed on the ship from the day before for the shoot, and as soon as I got on, I took a bath. The ship’s rocking made the water in the large bath glitter and ripple like waves—it was beautiful!
‘Kamen Rider W’ taught me the joy of performing freely and having fun. By cherishing the same character for a full year, I learned to imagine the entire life of any role I play afterward before acting. Meeting fans was also thanks to this work!”
