Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1976. After graduating from Ritsumeikan University, he joined New Japan in 1999. He made his debut at Korakuen in the same year and won all the major titles, including the IWGP Heavyweight Title. He retired from active wrestling in January ’26, and has devoted himself to being the president of New Japan, a position he has held since ’23.
