The crime was committed before heading to a club competition

“Are you okay?”

A junior high school teacher who called out to a woman sitting in the apartment hallway noticed that she was heavily intoxicated, then, without hesitation, had sexual intercourse with her and also stole her cash. He then went to the track-and-field meet of the team he supervised as if nothing had happened.

“On November 6, 2025, the Saitama Prefectural Police First Investigation Division arrested junior high school teacher Hidenori Takei (36) on suspicion of quasi-forcible sexual intercourse and theft. Takei is said to have admitted to the charges, stating, ‘I had sex with a woman who was drunk. I don’t know the exact amount, but I stole money.’ The victim, a woman in her 20s referred to as Ms. A, had no prior acquaintance with Takei.

On December 18, 2025, the Saitama Prefectural Board of Education announced that Takei had been dismissed from his position as a disciplinary measure for seriously damaging the trust placed in educational public employees,” (national newspaper social affairs reporter).

On February 3, the first hearing for Takei was held at the Saitama District Court.

Details of Takei’s despicable crime were once again revealed through the indictment and opening statements read by the prosecutor at the trial.

“In the early morning of early June 2021, the defendant left his second-floor apartment unit where he was living at the time in order to head to a prefectural meet in which students from the track-and-field club he supervised at the junior high school where he worked were participating. As he went down the apartment stairs, he saw Ms. A sitting on the ground in the first-floor corridor, dead drunk and asleep. The defendant spoke to her, saying things like ‘Are you okay?’ but after confirming that she was unable to respond properly, he took advantage of the fact that she was too intoxicated to resist and had sexual intercourse with her.”

During questioning, Takei reportedly gave the following motive:

“She smelled of alcohol, and during our exchange she looked like she was about to vomit, so I knew she was drunk and unable to resist. Knowing she was so intoxicated that she couldn’t make normal judgments, my sexual desire increased and I committed the act.”

For four years, he stood at the podium as a teacher as if nothing had happened

The night before the incident was payday at the restaurant where Ms. A worked. After finishing work, she went drinking with a friend at a bar run by an acquaintance and ended up drinking too much. She took a taxi home, but couldn’t find her key and was unable to get into her room, leaving her at a loss. At that point, someone came down from the second floor and called out to her, “What’s wrong? Are you okay?” She replied, “Are you a delivery person?” but says her memory after that is vague.

Later, when Ms. A woke up at home, she found that the pay envelope she had in her bag contained only the pay slip, and realized she had been robbed. Noticing that her clothes were disheveled, she suspected she had been sexually assaulted and filed a report with the police, which brought the incident to light.

When the police investigated, the security camera on the intercom at Ms. A’s residence clearly showed Takei ringing the intercom before the crime and checking that no one was inside the room.

During questioning, Takei admitted that he put the banknotes that had fallen beside the seated Ms. A into his pocket and also stole about 600,000 yen from her bag. Regarding how he used the money, he reportedly stated:

“I hid the stolen money in my car so my wife wouldn’t find it. Then I spent it all on things I like, such as clothes, and on visits to sex establishments.”

In court, Takei acknowledged the charges, saying, “There is no mistake.” Even after committing the two crimes of quasi-forcible sexual intercourse and theft, he continued to stand in front of a junior high school classroom for about four years until his arrest.

After committing such a vile act—forcing himself on a woman who had fallen asleep drunk and even taking her money—did he feel no guilt about teaching children? Or did he assume he would never be arrested and spend his days comfortably with the roughly 600,000 yen in extra income?

Attention is now focused on what Takei will say in court going forward.
