Fashion Event Stunner Yui Narumi Rocks Shoulder-Baring Mini Dress, Impresses Fans on the Streets

Boldly showing her shoulders and striding through the night streets like a model on the runway is actor Yui Narumi (27).

On January 19, a preview of the pop-up event “Dior Addict Candy Shop” by the fashion brand DIOR was held in Harajuku (Shibuya, Tokyo), attracting numerous celebrities. Outside the venue, many onlookers had gathered to catch a glimpse of the stars, but it was Narumi who stood out the most.

“She got her start by appearing as an extra in the 2018 film Chihayafuru – Musubi, starring Suzu Hirose (27). This inspired her to drop out of university and move to Tokyo to pursue acting seriously. In 2019, she made her TV drama debut in the NHK morning drama Natsuzora, also starring Hirose. In 2021, she starred in the film Itsuwarino nai happy end, playing a protagonist searching for her missing sister, earning high praise,” said a TV magazine writer.

Last year, Narumi played Kotoko Oda, a colleague of the heroine Yanai Nobu (played by Mio Imada, 28), in the NHK morning drama Anpan. Though normally demure, her character becomes talkative and transformed when drinking, showcasing her comedic talent. Immediately afterward, in the October drama Synanthrope (TV Tokyo), she played Kanna Murota, a beauty student with blue hair and self-harm scars—a complex menhera character. Known for her wide acting range, Narumi is considered one of the actors most likely to break out this year.

At the event, Narumi wore an asymmetrical dress with half of the skirt designed as a mini. On her SNS, she posted a photo of herself holding Dior’s Lip Glow Oil amid the glittering display of candies and sweets at the venue, writing:

“It was such a happy space~♡”

After leaving the event, Narumi strode confidently through the crowd of onlookers, flanked by black-clad foreign bodyguards and staff. At that moment, voices rang out: “Wow! Amazing!” and “So sexy and cool!”

Currently, Narumi appears in NHK Drama 10’s The Uncertain Court of Themis, which began airing January 6. The story centers on Kiyoharu Ando, a judge with developmental disabilities, played by Kenichi Matsuyama (40). Narumi plays the heroine Noa Onozaki, a lawyer who approaches Ando to take advantage of his traits. Fans on social media have praised her performance, saying: “I didn’t even recognize her—she’s completely different from Kotoko or Kanna.”

About playing this role, Narumi said:

“Through her interactions with Judge Ando, played by Kenichi Matsuyama, hope begins to grow in her heart, even though she had been thinking about quitting being a lawyer.
