<h2> Barbaric act at the prestigious Aspen Club Lodge hotel</h2>
 The TV personality Mrs. Devi Sukarno, 85, aka &#8220;Mrs. Devi,&#8221; was reportedly sent to the police on January 23 for allegedly injuring a manager who worked at her office.
 The incident occurred late at night on October 28 last year. When Mrs. Devi was informed of the death of her beloved dog, who had been hospitalized at a veterinary hospital in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, she became furious inside the hospital. She kicked a wall and went on a rampage, allegedly assaulting and slightly injuring a female manager in her 30s who tried to restrain her. Upon receiving a call, police officers responded to the scene.

 This is not the first assault trouble involving Mrs. Devi.
 As recently as April last year, she was sent to prosecutors on suspicion of assaulting a female office staff member, a different case from the one in October. Other than that, she has been in the news frequently.
 Among these, I am most impressed by the incident that took place in Aspen, Colorado, U.S.A., in 1992.
 At an international party held at a luxury resort hotel, Mrs. Devi was struck in the face with a champagne glass after an argument with a woman she knew. The victim woman received 37 stitches and was seriously injured, and Mrs. Davi was arrested for assault. She was convicted (60 days in jail and fined $750) and booked into the jail.
 I closely interviewed Mrs. Devi for four days while she was incarcerated in the detention center.
 I would like to write again about what I actually saw and heard about Mrs. Devi during my interviews at that time.
 The incident took place at the Aspen Club Lodge, a top-class hotel in Aspen ski resort. It was a commemorative party hosted by the owner of the former German royal family, to which about 200 people from all over the world were invited.

 American oil tycoons, famous models, people in the entertainment industry, and the former wife of Donald Trump, who was already known as a wealthy man at the time, were also in attendance.
 While live classical music was playing and the conversation and dancing continued, an incident occurred near the entrance at around 10:20 p.m. The incident took place at a party held by a New York socialite called &#8220;The Bachelor,&#8221; who was invited to the party.
 It was Mrs. Victoria M. Osmena, known as &#8220;Minnie&#8221; in New York society. Her grandfather was a former president of the Philippines and her father was an opposition leader.

<h2>Wearing trainers and spats instead of prison uniforms.</h2>
 The two were once as close as sisters. However, for various reasons, they did not get along at that time.
 In the midst of their drinking and emotions running high, Mrs. Osmeyna&#8217;s one word turned the tables on Mrs. Davy. The next moment, the champagne glass in Mrs. Osmeina&#8217;s hand was shaken down.

 We were the first reporters from Japan to cover the event.
 I was a reporter for the afternoon wide show &#8220;Time 3&#8221; (Fuji TV) and a reporter for a weekly magazine.
 When Mrs. Devi appeared at the detention center, she was not dressed in a prison uniform, but in a light, sporty outfit of trainers and spats. She was in a heated room and had just been pedaling an aerobike in the fitness room. She did not look like someone who had been arrested.
 She said, &#8220;The food is good here.
 It&#8217;s the best prison in the world. It&#8217;s like a country club.
 I was told about the incident
 &#8220;The victim has 37 stitches in his face,&#8221; I asked.
 She immediately replied, &#8220;I am an oriental woman.
 I am a woman from the Orient. I would never hurt a woman&#8217;s face, no matter how angry I am.
 She countered, &#8220;I am an Oriental woman. She then added, &#8220;Glass is a woman of the Orient,
 The glass only hit me when she grabbed my hand.
 I still don&#8217;t agree with the conviction.
 I am still not convinced of the conviction,&#8221; he said in a strong tone.
 What came through in her words was not an apology or regret, but anger at the position she had been placed in.

 On the last day of the interview, Mrs. Devi was involved in an accident and had to be rushed to the emergency room. When we met again 10 years later at Haneda Airport, I expressed my concern about the accident, and she replied, &#8220;Oh?
 She said, &#8220;Oh, no?　Did that ever happen?
 I asked her, &#8220;Did that ever happen? Perhaps the incident, including the one in which I injured her with the champagne glass, was in the past for her and she had forgotten about it.
 I wonder if the word &#8220;regret&#8221; exists for her. &#8230;&#8230; The filing of the paperwork reminded me of such a thing.
