Tanaka Spotted Leaving Restaurant After an Eel Dinner

Opens Up During Event!

Her ideal man? Face and trust—the beauty icon seems to live honestly, entirely true to herself.

One evening, temperatures had dropped to 5°C during the day, and by night, cold rain was falling—a biting chill in the air. Yet, one corner of the TBS Broadcasting Center was filled with an unusually warm energy for the season.

That night, TBS Radio’s “Tanaka Minami Attaka Time”, hosted by Minami Tanaka (39), held its first-ever public recording. Out of 1,500 applications, 80 elite listeners were selected—making the venue feel like a closed colosseum.

As revealed in the broadcast (aired January 3), the guest of the evening was the so-called lone cult comedian, Nagano (51). Tanaka engaged in nonstop hilarious banter with him, creating a lively atmosphere with sharp wit and candid exchanges.

The energy peaked when an audience member asked, “What’s your ideal man right now?” Tanaka hesitated slightly with a thoughtful “Eh” before declaring:

“Someone I can trust. Someone reliable. Simply put.”

Then, shifting from a saintly smile to a mischievous, playful expression, she added:

“And the face. Looks are important too (laughs).”

The crowd erupted. When Nagano repeated, “Face and trust?” she responded immediately with a “Yes!” and laughed heartily. This face and trust punchline shouldn’t be dismissed as mere lip service. Her current partner, former KAT-TUNmember Kazuya Kamenashi (39), cannot be ignored in this context.

Regarding their relationship, last October, some tabloids reported that “Kamenashi couldn’t handle Tanaka’s intensity, and they broke up,” but by December, other media stated, “Their relationship is continuing smoothly,” creating mixed reports.

“A woman can boldly say ‘Looks are important’ in public only because her partner is a top idol recognized by everyone. This is a strong message: ‘We’re doing well,’ and it also shows her composure against breakup rumors. The word ‘trust’ seems to refer to the bond they’ve nurtured while keeping secrets amid busy schedules. Tanaka is the type to devote herself completely to someone she truly trusts—proof that she ignores outside noise,” explained a director at a private key TV network.

While Tanaka’s statements could be seen as asserting the relationship’s stability, entertainment journalist Takayuki Shiroshita offered a more cautious view regarding marriage:

“For a former idol who has gone independent, losing fans can be critical. The first priority is building a solid position as an actor capable of drawing ratings. For reference, Noriyuki Higashiyama married at 44, and Koichi Domoto announced marriage at 46. Kamenashi is likely conscious of these late-marriage trends among seniors and may avoid settling down until his career is firmly established in his 40s.”

Regarding their current status, Shiroshita added:

“There are various rumors about breakups and reconciliations, but it’s not like they’re so busy they can’t find time to meet. It’s natural to assume their relationship is ongoing. However, Tanaka may want to expedite marriage, whereas Kamenashi seems in it for the long game. How she adjusts to this time lag will be a key point moving forward.”

The hurdles to marriage are high. Yet, after the recording, Tanaka’s demeanor was strong and full of the very trust she values—demonstrating her resilience and self-assurance.

The Calculating Girl = Thoughtful Girl Equation

After leaving the radio station, Tanaka, dressed casually in a black top and denim, headed to a long-established eel restaurant near TBS. By her side was a woman who appeared to be her manager, supporting her daily on set. While some talents choose to sit separately from their staff, Tanaka did not hesitate and took the two of them into a private room at the back. After a big day’s work, she likely wanted to share a comforting eel meal with someone close who had shared the ups and downs of the day.

Two hours later, just before leaving the restaurant, she was spotted giving the staff an upward glance of thanks—a charmingly calculating gesture. It’s precisely this mix of charm and thoughtfulness that is likely one of the reasons Tanaka is so beloved.

Despite the cold rain, Tanaka opened a plastic umbrella and gently offered it to her manager. Huddled together, the two ran to the car under a single umbrella. In that moment, they did not appear as talent and manager but as equal partners, leaning on each other’s backs.

Regarding Tanaka’s reputation in the industry, a TV station official confidently praised her:

“She can handle a wide range of roles, and the production team trusts her completely. She is highly valued. Previously, on a drama set, she treated all staff members with high-end fruits from Senbikiya and even gave beauty products to the female staff behind the scenes. Her attention to detail is well-known. This care for her ‘inner circle’ boosts staff morale and has cemented her position.”

While the public often labels her as intense or scary, it is this detailed affection and warmth toward those close to her that likely allows her to survive in the entertainment industry and continue to captivate top idol Kamenashi. Even if her goal with him is a long-term one, she seems able to wait patiently.

Having recharged with both the nourishment of eel and the reassurance of trust, she will continue into 2026, as calculating as ever and running forward with strength.

Two hours later, she looks pleased with herself.
