Madame Dewi Faces Assault Investigation Following Late-Night Animal Hospital Incident

Behind the scenes of her referral to the prosecutors
Dewi Sukarno (85), known as “Madame Dewi,” was reportedly referred to prosecutors on January 23 on suspicion of assaulting a manager who worked at her office.
The incident occurred late at night on October 28 of last year, when Madame Dewi, distraught over the death of her beloved dog, caused a commotion inside the animal hospital. During the chaos, she allegedly assaulted the manager who tried to stop her.
FRIDAY Digital had reported the details of the commotion at the animal hospital. Looking back at the article published on November 10, 2025:
Her high heels broke as she raged
It was revealed that the often-controversial Madame Dewi had caused a commotion serious enough to require police intervention.
The incident took place late at night on October 28, 2025, at a 24-hour animal hospital in Tokyo capable of emergency treatment.
“There was a woman in the hospital lobby shouting loudly, as if giving a speech. When I looked closely, it was Madame Dewi, which surprised me,” said a pet owner who happened to be at the scene.
Madame Dewi seemed extremely agitated.
“She was wearing a chic purple two-piece outfit, but she was stamping her feet so violently that the heels of her shoes were already broken. Several hospital staff and her two managers tried to stop her, but she became even more agitated, shouting at the hospital things like, ‘You’re just making money!’ and ‘You killed my dog!’” the pet owner revealed.
The next day, on October 29, Madame Dewi updated her Instagram, announcing that her dog Taro had passed away after being admitted for emergency treatment. She wrote:
“Even humans are put under anesthesia for a gastroscopy. Imagine passing a 13.4 cm tube through that tiny body—it must have been so painful and distressing. What was the point? For life extension? There was so much blood left on the bed.”
She also expressed her frustration toward the hospital:
“If he wasn’t going to make it anyway, I wish I could have let him pass away in his warm mama’s arms instead of taking him to the hospital.”
Of course, the death of a beloved pet is a tremendous shock. That said, verbally abusing medical staff at the hospital is inexcusable.
In April last year, she was sent a notice for assaulting a female staff member
“After a while, police officers arrived, probably called by the hospital. However, Madame Dewi’s anger didn’t subside even after the police came, and she continued shouting loudly on the street after leaving the hospital. There were about ten pet owners in the lobby, and all of them had come because their beloved pets were injured or sick. They were already full of anxiety and worry, so having someone shouting like that was unbearable,” said a patient who was present.
Speaking of Madame Dewi, in April ’25, she was sent a notice on suspicion of assaulting a female staff member at her office. Perhaps as a result of this, the “12 (Wan-Nyan) Peace Party” she established in February that same year to run in the summer Upper House election was dissolved.
“In the case of the assault that led to the notice, it seems that reconciliation with the female staff member has still not been reached. If a damage report is filed regarding this hospital incident, there are plenty of security cameras and witnesses, so the police investigation wouldn’t be too difficult. If it becomes a case again, it could also affect the previous assault case, and above all, appearing on TV or in commercials will become even more difficult,” said a television station insider.
The publication sent an inquiry via email to Madame Dewi’s office to confirm the facts of the incident at the animal hospital. In response, the office sent a photo of her deceased dog, Taro, along with the comment:
“We are sending a copy of the Instagram and Facebook posts expressing Madame’s grief over losing Taro.”
However, since this did not answer the questions, the publication called the office for an interview. The office staff responded,
“We have nothing to answer.”
It is well known that Madame Dewi has a strong interest in dogs, cats, and other pets. All the more, one wonders why she could not quietly spend her beloved pet’s final moments.
