Man in his 30s arrested for non-consensual sexual assault against a woman in her 20s

Following a woman on her way home
The man who appeared from the escort exit of Shakujii Police Station, upon noticing the photographers, briefly widened his eyes in a threatening manner and glared at them.
“On December 24, 2025, the Shakujii Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested Jun Miyaji (31), occupation unknown, on suspicion of indecent assault causing injury against a woman in her 20s with whom he had no prior acquaintance.
According to the police, on the night of December 11, Miyaji followed a woman who was walking home alone in Nerima Ward. Suddenly, he approached her from behind, grabbed her, and committed the act before fleeing. The woman fell and struck part of her body on the ground, sustaining minor injuries. The incident came to light after the woman called 110 (emergency number). Investigation of security camera footage led police to identify Miyaji as the suspect.
Miyaji reportedly denies part of the allegations,” said a reporter from a national newspaper’s social affairs desk.
Around 8 a.m. on December 26, Miyaji was transferred to the prosecutor’s office.
As he emerged from the escort exit of Shakujii Police Station, he briefly glared at the photographers, but then suddenly smiled and appeared to speak to the police officers. He showed no signs of nervousness and got into the transport vehicle calmly. Miyaji’s occupation has not been revealed, but his slim build, attractive features, and constant smiles directed at the photographers suggested he might be accustomed to being in public.
Miyaji lived in a stylish apartment about a 10-minute walk from the nearest station, with a rent of around 100,000 yen.
When shown photos of him, residents of the building said, “I feel like I’ve seen him before, but I’m not sure if it’s really him,” and added:
“In this apartment, we only exchange brief nods with people on the same floor, so honestly, I don’t really know who lives here. You only notice who lives here when you see them in the entrance or bicycle parking area for the first time.”
Other residents had similar reactions, mostly saying they thought they had seen him before.
The area around the apartment has many long-standing single-family homes, and according to residents: “We don’t really interact with people living in the apartment, so we don’t know who lives there. Occasionally, if trash is left near the entrance, we just call the management company.”
On the other hand, it seems the police were investigating something in the area last December.
“Around mid-December last year, the police were checking security camera footage in this area. Since it was close to the end of the year, I thought it might have been a theft case,” a resident said.
After committing the crime, Miyaji attempted to flee from the scene, but later engaged in an unbelievable act. The social affairs reporter explained:
“About a week after the incident, the victim reported that Miyaji had been stalking her. Why Miyaji appeared again in front of a woman he had never met before is currently under investigation.”
Despite initially escaping, Miyaji then turned to stalking behavior.
What was his motive for the crime? This may be revealed through ongoing investigations.
