Never Co-starring Again Drama Written by Yashushi Akimoto Finally Have English Adoptation
The drama “Co-starring NG” (aired on TV Tokyo from October to December 2020), planned and written by lyricist Yasushi Akimoto, will be remade in English.
The remake will be part of a partnership between Westbrooks Studio, a U.S. media company led by Will Smith, and Akimoto Project LLC, which owns part of Akimoto’s intellectual property.
Co-starring Kiichi Nakai and Kyoka Suzuki, “NG” is a comedy about the relationships between a former “big” couple in the entertainment industry who have not worked together for 20 years since their breakup.
Terence Carter, co-president of Westbrooks Studio, said of the remake of the show
I think it’s a perfect entry into the Asian TV format market. It’s a comedy with great actors and a heartwarming romance.
Mr. Akimoto also praised it.
Mr. Akimoto also said
Akimoto also asked, “What kind of actors and why did they decide not to work together on the remake?” What kind of conditions would the agents in the U.S., who are much stricter on performance contracts than those in Japan, offer? And how do the two “NG” actors, who have signed the contract, try to get through the performance while suppressing their emotions? New ideas will come to mind one after another.
This is not just a remake. It’s not just a remake, but it’s going to be much bigger than that.
The lead actor is yet to be determined. Mr. Akimoto is also participating in the project as an executive producer and is currently devising a high-level casting.
