Rin Sugihara Wears Cute Police Uniform for Hometown Event in Honjo City

On December 7, a traffic safety event was held at a shopping mall in Honjō City, Saitama Prefecture, as part of the “Winter Traffic Accident Prevention Campaign.” Holding a guidebook and giving a cheerful salute to the camera was Rin Sugihara (29) from Nippon TV.
On this day, she served as the one-day police chief for Honjō Police Station.
Sugihara joined the network seven years ago and currently works as an assistant on The! Sekai Gyōten News and as a Saturday SHOWBIZ caster on Shuichi.
“Sugihara is from Honjō City, Saitama, and even as a rookie, her cheerful smile perfectly matched the phrase breaking into a smile, making her very popular and well-liked as an announcer. Perhaps because of this image, she has been invited multiple times to serve as a one-day police chief for traffic safety events at stations such as Takanawa and Yotsuya,” said a TV magazine writer.
Sugihara had previously served as the one-day police chief in Honjō City in 2019, her first year at the network, making this her second time.
At the start of the event, Sugihara greeted everyone energetically:
“I feel very honored and focused today. I hope I can help prevent tragic traffic accidents.”
She then handed out reflective materials to visitors at the mall and spoke to small children:
“Please be careful of cars when crossing the street.”
One mother commented, “She made sure to get down to the children’s eye level. She seemed very kind.”
Local high school students also performed a self-choreographed dance to a song about traffic rules, and Sugihara watched from her seat with a moved expression.
Thanks to Sugihara’s efforts in her police uniform, traffic safety in Honjō City is sure to be protected throughout the year-end and New Year period.
