Public Bus Incident Leads to Arrest of Elite School Teacher for Molestation

A young woman’s voice echoed inside a crowded bus. A passenger who was asked for help called 110. The arrested man was a teacher at a girls’ high school.
The Urayasu Police Station of the Chiba Prefectural Police arrested Yuma Hayata (29) from Chiba City on December 11 on suspicion of indecent assault without consent. Hayata is a social studies teacher at a public girls’ high school in the prefecture. This high school is renowned for its teacher training and has a prestigious history of over 125 years.
“The incident occurred past 9 PM on the night of the 10th. According to the police, Hayata boarded a public bus running through Urayasu City to return home. While the bus was crowded, he allegedly touched the body of a high school girl standing beside him over her underwear.
A passenger who noticed the high school girl’s distress called 110. The police reviewed footage from the bus’s drive recorder which led to Hayata’s arrest. It is reported that there was no acquaintance between Hayata and the victim. In response to police questioning, Hayata denies the charges, stating, ‘I stayed still until the intended bus stop. I did not engage in any indecent act,'” reported a national newspaper’s social affairs journalist.
An action that involves glaring with sharp eyes
The magazine’s photographer captured the transfer of suspect Hayata, which took place on December 12 shortly after his arrest. The camera captured a shocking photograph. Upon noticing the press, he acted with a sharp glare.
Former Kanagawa Prefecture police detective and crime journalist Taihei Ogawa explains.
“Recently, indecent incidents involving school teachers and cram school instructors have become a problem. Most teachers work with a pure intention of raising and nurturing students to become respectable adults. However, it is also true that some people see students as objects of desire.
Like the teacher arrested this time, individuals working in a special environment where they are surrounded by female high school students must uphold moral standards as educators. During the hiring process for teachers, it is crucial to provide thorough lectures on ethics as educators, in addition to questioning their teaching methods and expertise in their subject areas.”
An unthinkable trouble by a teacher at a prestigious girls’ high school. The Chiba Prefectural Board of Education issued a statement saying, “We take the arrest of the staff member seriously. We will deal with the matter strictly after confirming the facts.”
