From Snow Man to the World Ren Meguro Launches International Acting Career
He will appear in the U.S. drama "SHOGUN Shogun" Season 2! The road to becoming a "Hollywood Actor" has opened up!

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. in early November, a lone man stood on a bridge over the Sumida River, buffeted by cold winds. It was Ren Meguro (28) of the nine-member idol group Snow Man. The Tokyo Skytree sparkled in the night sky. Despite the strong wind causing staff to constantly adjust his hair, Meguro, wearing glasses, stood resolutely, undisturbed, fully focused on the shoot.
Currently, Meguro appears in the popular drama The Royal Family (TBS), playing a crucial role as the secret child of a horse owner portrayed by Koichi Sato (64), holding the key to the storyline.
“Meguro first gained attention through the drama Kyousho II (Fuji TV) and the morning drama Maiagare! (NHK), but his performance in silent (Fuji TV) really cemented his reputation as an actor. His first solo lead film, My Happy Marriage, also generated significant buzz. Among the younger former Johnny’s idols, his expressive ability is particularly highly regarded,” said a TV network insider.
Amid this, Meguro has been cast in Season 2 of SHOGUN Shogun, starring Hiroyuki Sanada (65). After the Snow Manfive-dome tour that began on the 15th of this month, the group announced a temporary hiatus from activities. Meguro is now taking a serious first step toward a global career.
“The decision to pause group activities and focus on acting was, of course, discussed with the other members. They accepted his resolve and agreed to support him. The group has always aimed for global reach, so both fans and members are surely looking forward to his success,” said entertainment reporter Chikako Komai.
