Fans Buzz Over Mina’s Back Shot

On the night of December 1, the sidewalks of Omotesando in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward were packed with huge crowds. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the appearance of one particular person.

Amid thunderous cheers, Mina (MINA, 28) of the nine-member multinational girl group TWICE emerged from the FENDI boutique lining Omotesando.

That day marked the annual lighting ceremony of the Omotesando FENDI Illumination 2025. Mina appeared in a denim mini dress that boldly revealed her décolletage, prompting a wave of reactions from the crowd that sounded like a mix of cheers and shrieks.

“Mina is a Japanese national born in Texas, USA. She’s known for her elegant dance style, marked by delicate expressiveness and a unique aura, and her beauty has earned her tremendous support from fans. In July 2023, she also debuted as part of MISAMO, a sub-unit made up of TWICE’s three Japanese members, further expanding her fan base. She’s also highly popular as a fashion model and was appointed a FENDI brand ambassador this January,” said a fashion magazine reporter.

When Mina stepped onto the special stage and pressed the button, the zelkova trees lining Omotesando—stretching roughly one kilometer—lit up all at once in a champagne-gold glow, drawing loud cheers from the crowd. A photo session for the media followed, but fans in the front rows, looking up at Mina, could be heard saying things like “Her skin is so white” and “She’s beautiful!”—along with worried voices reacting to her back view: “Oh no! You can see too much!”

Yet pulling off such a boldly revealing dress with elegance is something only Mina can do. She explained her outfit by saying,

“I made it lovely by focusing on the big ribbons on my head and shoes.”

When the host asked her to choose a kanji character to represent her year, Mina held up a placard with the character “挑” (challenge) and said,

“TWICE is celebrating our 10th anniversary since debut. This year, we challenged ourselves with things like underwater filming, headlining Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 2, and performing on a 360-degree stage during our world tour.”

Although she plans to relax at home toward the end of the year, additional world tour dates are already scheduled for April next year. Asked about her goals for the coming year, Mina replied,

“My goal is to stay healthy and meet fans all around the world.”

For the fans who gathered that day, it was surely a double treat—being able to enjoy both Mina’s beauty and the dazzling illumination.

“‘You can see it!’ — Mina’s back shot that had fans buzzing”
