79-Year-Old Defendant Who Took High School Girl in Car “Because He Had Sexual Desires as a Man” Has “Stained the Late Night”.

Sentence handed down to the 79-year-old defendant
The defendant said, “You’re so cute. How much allowance do you get?”
Takao Okubo, 79, was sentenced for two counts of indecent kidnapping and non-consensual sexual intercourse after he approached a 15-year-old high school girl, A, and took her away in his car to sexually assault her.
November 21, Saitama District Court. On that day, Okubo entered the court wearing a gray jacket, white shirt, and black pants . He then nodded to his wife, who was sitting in the audience, and sat down on the witness stand.
Judge Masahito Murohashi sentenced Okubo to five years in prison (six years is the suggested sentence) on the grounds that he committed the crime without regard for the feelings of the victim, who was terrified in the car.
The incident occurred on May 11.
He parked his car beside a park, had lunch in the car, and was relaxing when he saw Ms. A walking from in front of him . Do you want to ride in the car? He claimed that Ms. A got into the car by herself. He then drove to a deserted area and committed the crime.
At the trial, he recalled his feelings at the time.
I wanted to do something sexual, so I drove to a deserted place. I don’t have any sexual desire to have sex or anything like that. Just to be a little clear, I thought it would be okay to prank you.”
When asked by the judge, “What is this prank?” he replied, “Touching, kissing, and things like that.
In Okubo’s statement, Ms. A never showed any attitude of rejection toward the defendant, but rather spoke as if she willingly got into the car with him. However, Ms. A. told the police and prosecutors in interrogation that when she was approached by Mr. Okubo, she said, “I was scared and uncomfortable.
The victim said, “I can’t forgive them.”
I was so scared that I couldn’t run away or speak out loud. I was so scared that I couldn’t run away and speak out loud. I thought I would worry my mother, so I couldn’t tell her on the day (that I had been sexually assaulted by Okubo). Even now, when I think about what happened when I was taken away, I am too scared to go out alone.
Ms. A said, “I took it (the 2,000 yen) as it was. I was scared of him (Okubo) and felt bad, so I opened the car door by myself and walked home as fast as I could,” she stated during the interrogation.
Okubo’s “lack of consciousness of guilt” at the time of the incident is evident from the incident that led to his arrest. Two days after the incident, he chased Ms. A, whom he saw by chance, by car and came to her house.
When the frightened Ms. A complained to her mother that “the uncle who gave me money last time followed me,” Ms. A’s mother returned 2,000 yen to defendant Okubo, who had parked his car in front of her house, saying, “I cannot take this money.
She said, “Use this money to buy her whatever you want.”
Okubo said to her, “I’m sorry,
She replied, “No, thank you.
Okubo replied, “No, thank you,
He said, “What is it?
He then drove away.
The day Okubo showed up in front of her house, Ms. A’s mother complained.
She said, “It was a very suspicious event, so I called the police to have them patrol the area. After I made that call, I heard that my daughter had been touched by the man. I can’t forgive the man.”
True to her words, the mother refused to accept any settlement or even a letter of apology from Okubo until the very end.
He had a philanthropic side to him.
Okubo admitted that he sexually assaulted Ms. A in the car, but claimed that the victim took off her clothes voluntarily. The prosecutor countered that this was “highly improbable. In this regard, Judge Murohashi stated the following after handing down the verdict.
In light of the objective circumstances in which the victim was victimized by an unknown defendant in a car and the victim’s consistent statements that she was scared, it is difficult to believe that the victim willingly took off her clothes, and the defendant’s statements are not credible.”
Okubo, who turned 79 years old while in custody, suffers from diabetes, and while in custody, he sometimes collapsed due to fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Therefore, the defense argued that “in light of his current health condition, the use of a penal institution is not appropriate, and we believe that it is appropriate for him to live with his family in the community.” However, Judge Murohashi ruled that “this is not a case where extenuating circumstances warrant a reduction in sentence, and the defendant cannot escape the sentence in the main text. The defendant was sentenced to prison.
Before his arrest, Okubo was a philanthropist who donated money to UNICEF every year, visited nursing homes as a volunteer, and performed enka (traditional Japanese ballad) and Japanese dance, which he had been doing for 30 years.
At trial, he said , “I thought that if I gave money, I could satisfy my sexual desire. I had a manly sexual desire,” he said at the time of the incident. However, he ruined his record as a philanthropist by forcibly satisfying his “manly sexual desire” with a 15-year-old girl he happened to see. Moreover, he has left an indelible mark not only on Mr. A and his family, but also on his own wife and family.
After the verdict was handed down, Okubo remained still and motionless for a while. He finally stood up, handcuffed, and left the courtroom after being nudged by a staff member.
