KAT-TUN Sends Email to All FC Members About Breakup Livestream—Fans Express Shock
Their final glorious appearance
KAT-TUN held their breakup concert titled Break the KAT-TUN on November 8. The group had officially disbanded at the end of March, but in an unusual turn of events, they reunited about half a year later. Just before the one-night-only performance, on October 22, a certain announcement was sent to all STARTO ENTERTAINMENT fan-club members.
STARTO had shockingly announced KAT-TUN’s disbandment on February 12 of this year. With their 20th anniversary of CD debut coming up in 2026, Kazuya Kamenashi (39), Tatsuya Ueda (42), and Yuichi Nakamaru (42) chose to go separate ways, sending shockwaves through fans.
At the time, the agency stated, “Although the group will disband on March 31, at the members’ request we are currently coordinating to create an opportunity in the near future for them to meet fans again.”
That place to meet fans finally materialized—with their final live concert held on November 8 at 5 p.m. at ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba.
As the concert approached, on October 22, STARTO’s fan-club organization “Family Club” sent a message board announcement to all fan-club members regarding KAT-TUN’s final show.
“First, they explained that the members wished to create a place where they could personally express gratitude to the fans who have supported them, and they announced that the show would be livestreamed on FAMILY CLUB online.
They added, ‘We would be grateful if fan-club members—who support the artists that have walked alongside KAT-TUN as seniors and juniors—could witness their final stage together,’ and included the streaming time and the URL for FAMILY CLUB online.” (Entertainment writer)
Because people who were not in KAT-TUN’s fan club also received the email, surprised reactions flooded social media. Some even reacted negatively:
〈Is it okay to send a promotional email for the “Break the KAT-TUN” livestream to all fan-club members? Are the streaming tickets really not selling that much?〉
〈When the email arrived, I couldn’t help thinking, “Maybe the streaming tickets for KAT-TUN’s last concert aren’t selling well.”〉
〈Did they send the email to all fan-club members because the live-stream ticket sales among KAT-TUN fans weren’t going well?〉
Even so, the promotional effect appears to have worked—several people said the email encouraged them to buy streaming tickets.
“The price of a streaming ticket is 5,300 yen for KAT-TUN fan-club members and 6,300 yen for the general public. Considering you can watch KAT-TUN’s grand finale, it’s certainly not an expensive amount. Many people seem to be planning to watch the archive later, depending on how those who viewed the live performance reacted.
A message-board email to all fan-club members was also sent out on the day of V6’s breakup concert livestream (November 1, 2021). The agency likely hopes that, just as with V6, fans of other talents will also witness KAT-TUN’s ‘final gallant appearance.’” (said the previously quoted writer)
Fans expressed relief
Behind the scenes, however, some WEST. fans were worried. On October 21, the group’s official X (formerly Twitter) announced: “Junta Nakama & #AHO no TOUR Simultaneous Viewing Party — November 8 (Sat) 19:00~.”
They posted that on November 8, they would hold an event where fans would watch together with member Junta Nakama (38) the concert DVD & Blu-ray WEST. LIVE TOUR 2025 A.H.O. -Audio Hang Out-, released on November 5.
“Then the next day, an email about KAT-TUN was sent to all fan-club members. So comments started appearing like, ‘We just got an email saying watch KAT-TUN’s last live, but is Junta-kun okay hosting a watch party at the same time?’ or ‘I’m going to watch KAT-TUN’s last live-stream, so I can’t join the simultaneous viewing.’
Some even suggested, ‘Shouldn’t they change the date of the viewing party?’ It was a moment when the entire agency was trying to rally behind a major event for their seniors.” (the same entertainment writer)
Later, on the 24th at 1:00 PM, WEST.’s X announced that the simultaneous viewing party would be moved to 9:00 PM on the 8th. Nakama himself quoted the post on his personal X, writing:
“Taking various things into account, we shifted the time. I’m grateful to the managers who rearranged the schedule,” and “Sorry for the sudden change, but I want to spend a fun time with as many of you as possible! Thanks in advance.”
Thanks to WEST.’s schedule adjustment, fans who planned to watch KAT-TUN’s stream expressed relief.
The missed-streaming period for Break the KAT-TUN on FAMILY CLUB online ended at 11:59 PM on November 16, but the next day, on the 17th, KAT-TUN’s official SNS dropped new info: the Blu-ray & DVD of the concert will be released on March 22, 2026.
It will be sold exclusively through the Famクラ Store Online, with applications open until January 9 next year. Packed with KAT-TUN’s history, the video work is sure to become a new treasure for both the members and the fans.
