Happy Halloween from Japan!!!

One night in early November. In front of a world-famous high-end steakhouse in Roppongi, Tokyo, an unusually large crowd had gathered.

Black-clad men who appeared to be security guards were warning, “Don’t step forward!” As they did, a black Mercedes arrived. When the security opened the rear door, Mariah Carey (56) stepped out, dressed in a striking bright-red gown.

“Mariah came to Japan for the first time in seven years as part of her world tour THE CELEBRATION OF MIMI, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 21st-century masterpiece The Emancipation of Mimi. Starting October 28, she performed concerts in Kobe and Yokohama, singing all 23 songs. The encore was, as always, All I Want for Christmas Is You. Wearing a white mini dress and surrounded by dancers in Santa hats, Mariah belted out the song amid falling confetti. It felt like Christmas had arrived early, and the venue was incredibly excited.” (music magazine reporter)

After debuting in 1990 with Vision of Love, her trademark whistle voice quickly earned her the title of diva. In 1991, she became only the third female artist to be named Billboard’s Artist of the Year.

Her 1994 release All I Want for Christmas Is You still rises to No.1 on the charts every year as Christmas approaches—even 30 years later—making it one of the definitive holiday songs of the 20th and 21st centuries. Today she holds 12 Guinness World Records as a legendary hitmaker.

Having successfully completed her three-day live concerts in Japan, Mariah chose the steakhouse mentioned earlier for her post-tour celebration.

When she stepped out of the Mercedes, fans—waiting eagerly—screamed things like “Mariah!” and “I LOVE YOU!” She smiled and waved back, attempting to walk toward them. However, her strong security guards took her by the hand and guided her into the restaurant, leaving her to glance back wistfully at the fans.

A few days earlier, on October 31—Halloween itself—Mariah had updated her Instagram with a caption reading “Happy Halloween from Japan!!!,” posting an extravagant lolita-style cosplay outfit that also became a big topic of conversation.

It seems the songbird supreme thoroughly enjoyed her days in Japan after seven long years.
