Dewi Sukarno caused such a commotion at the animal hospital where her beloved dog Taro passed away that even the police had to be called.

She was thrashing around so violently her high heels broke

Dewi Sukarno (85), known for her numerous public controversies, was involved in an incident so serious that the police had to be called.

The incident occurred late at night on October 28 at an animal hospital in Tokyo that provides 24-hour emergency care.

“A woman was shouting loudly in the lobby as if giving a speech. When I looked closely, I was shocked to see it was Dewi Sukarno,” said a patient who happened to be present.

Dewi appeared extremely agitated.

“She was wearing a chic purple two-piece outfit, but she was stomping so violently that the heel of her high heels had already broken. Several hospital staff members and her two managers tried to calm her down, but she only became more upset, yelling at the hospital, ‘You money-grubbers!’ and ‘You killed my dog!’” the witness said.

The next day, on October 29, Dewi Sukarno updated her Instagram, announcing that her beloved dog Taro had passed away after an emergency hospitalization. She wrote:

“Even humans are given anesthesia when undergoing a gastroscopy. For such a tiny body to have a 13.4-centimeter tube inserted—it must have been so painful and distressing. What was the purpose? Life-prolonging measures? There were bloodstains all over the bed.”

She added her dissatisfaction with the hospital:

“If he wasn’t going to be saved anyway, I wish he could have passed away in my warm arms instead of being taken to a hospital.”

The death of a beloved pet is certainly a major shock. However, verbally abusing medical staff is never acceptable.

In April of this year, she was referred to prosecutors for assaulting a female staff member

“After a while, police officers arrived—presumably called by the hospital. But even after the police showed up, Dewi Sukarno didn’t calm down. She continued shouting loudly outside on the street after leaving the hospital. There were about ten other pet owners in the lobby, all there because their beloved animals were injured or ill. They were already filled with anxiety and worry—having someone scream like that must have been unbearable,” said the witness.

Dewi Sukarno was referred to prosecutors this April on suspicion of assaulting a female staff member at her own office. Perhaps due to that incident, the “12 (Wan-Nyan) Peace Party,” which she launched in February to run in the summer upper-house election, has since been dissolved.

“As for the assault case sent to prosecutors, it seems she still hasn’t reached a settlement with the female staff member. If someone files a complaint over this new incident at the animal hospital, there were security cameras and many witnesses, so the police investigation wouldn’t be difficult. If another case is opened, it could affect the previous assault case as well, and above all, it will make TV appearances and commercials even harder for her,” said a TV industry insider.

When FRIDAY Digital emailed her office for confirmation regarding the animal hospital incident, the office replied with a comment along with a photo of her late dog Taro:

“We are sending you copies of the posts from her Instagram and Facebook expressing the sadness of losing Taro.”

However, since this did not answer the questions asked, FRIDAY followed up via phone, but the staff member responded:

“We have nothing to say.”

Dewi Sukarno’s deep affection for pets—dogs, cats, and others—is well known. All the more reason to wonder: was she truly unable to see her beloved pet off peacefully in his final moments?
