They basically do not show their faces, nor do they reveal their age, occupation, or other personal details. In recent years, more and more so-called “ura-aka men” and “ura-aka women” have been active mainly on X and on fan sites such as myfans. Their biggest selling point is that the performers are real amateurs.

Top creators can have over one million followers and boast annual revenues in the hundreds of millions of yen. To uncover the truth behind these ura-aka men and women, we interviewed a well-known figure in the scene.

“At first, I used X the same way people use matching apps. I was a salaryman working in sales, but I’d been assigned to a rural area and had no opportunities to meet women.”

The ura-aka man “Jiji” (age undisclosed) now has more than 300,000 followers on X, and his videos frequently rank No. 1 on myfans, making him extremely popular in the community.

“I would contact women I wanted to meet through DMs, meet them in person, and have sex—that’s all it was at first. But eventually, I wanted more people to see the amateur sex videos I was filming for fun. It felt similar to people who post pictures of a delicious meal they ate. I’ve been doing this seriously for about three years now, and I’ve met more than 400 women.”

He mainly recruits partners through DMs.

Although Jiji says his follower count grew steadily from early on, one particular video caused his popularity to skyrocket.
