The stylish older foreign man walking near Shibuya’s Scramble Crossing is none other than Noel Gallagher (58) of the legendary British band Oasis.

The concerts held at Tokyo Dome on October 25 and 26 concluded safely amid enormous excitement.

“Although Oasis broke up in 2009 after Noel announced his departure, on August 27, 2024, they suddenly announced a reunion. When the Japan concerts were revealed on November 22, fans went wild. However, until right before the tour began, social media was filled with anxious comments like, ‘Won’t the brothers fight again and cancel everything?’ or ‘Even if I get a ticket, I won’t feel safe until the show actually happens.’

When their world tour Oasis Live ’25 kicked off on July 4 at Principality Stadium in Wales, the live footage spread across the world in no time,” said a music magazine journalist.

At their first Japan shows in 16 years, which were safely held, brothers Noel Gallagher (58) and Liam Gallagher (53) embraced on stage, sending the audience of 50,000 into a whirlwind of emotion.

“Despite their bitter feud and breakup, the Gallagher brothers walked onto the stage hand-in-hand and hugged each other with big smiles at the end. The performance had such power you’d never guess they’d had a long hiatus. Their voices sounded just as strong as before. Many fans were moved to tears, thinking, ‘Their relationship is truly restored. Oasis is really back,’” said one attendee.

Noel was spotted a few days before the Tokyo concerts at Shibuya’s Scramble Crossing. After getting out of a large transport van nearby, Noel, accompanied by his girlfriend Sally Mash, an event planner, along with a Japanese promoter and a bodyguard, began strolling through Shibuya. Although the crossing was as packed as ever, hardly anyone recognized him. However, according to music industry insiders involved with the Japan visit, Noel soon encountered a certain trouble.

“A male fan kept pestering Noel for an autograph. This man is known among fans as a troublemaker, and this time too he followed Noel around and repeatedly demanded a signature even after being refused. When the bodyguard, fed up, pushed the man aside, the man claimed he had been shoved and called the police.

While the man and the Japanese promoter were each questioned by police, Noel and his girlfriend had to wait inside the van for about 20 minutes, unable to move. In the end, I heard the issue was resolved after discussions between both parties.”

Though Noel often presents himself to the media as cold, cynical, and sharp-tongued, in private he is consistently calm and rarely shows impulsive or violent anger. In any case, those involved were relieved that the situation didn’t escalate into a major incident.

The Gallagher brothers safely completed their two-day concerts. One can only hope they continue on happily together as Oasis from here on out.
