Lynching of 15-Year-Old Osaka Student Captured in Shocking Video Filmed by Acquaintance
Former classmates beat and kicked the victim, forced him to take off his clothes and enter a river, made him get down on his knees, and stomped on his head - the victim and his mother confessed their "heartache.
It was just painful
Beating a defenseless boy one-sidedly, forcing him to kneel in apology, and stepping on his head. The video obtained by this magazine captured a brutal lynching so severe that the victim feared for his life.
On September 30, two teenage boys were referred to prosecutors on suspicion of assault and coercion for attacking a 15-year-old first-year high school student living in Osaka City and forcing him into a river. The victim has a developmental disability, and the attackers exploited his difficulty in expressing himself.
In mid-June, the victim was summoned by the boys to a riverside area in Osaka City under the pretext of “sparring.” The video was filmed at that time by an acquaintance of the perpetrator who was present at the scene.
The victim (“A”) and his mother recount the incident with trembling voices.
“I learned about the incident about ten days after my son was assaulted. B, the ringleader, was showing the video of the assault to people around him, and someone who saw it told my daughter, ‘Your brother is going to be killed.’ When I confronted my son, he finally told me, ‘They kept hitting me, and in the end they held me under the water.’ The assault took place over two days, and he was forced into the river on the first day.” (A’s mother)
The two perpetrators were classmates in junior high school and friends from the rugby club. A reluctantly begins to speak.
“Before the incident, I said something teasing about B when he wasn’t around. B heard about it and completely lost it. He called me out to the riverbank and hit me while I kept thinking, ‘If I don’t fight back, this will end sooner.’ So I didn’t resist and just endured it. All I remember is the pain.” (A)
The video shows B punching A’s face and abdomen dozens of times. As if hitting him wasn’t enough, they demanded that A apologize on his knees, and as soon as he kneeled as instructed, another perpetrator pressed down on A’s head with his shoe. Even then, the violence against A did not stop.
