From Seduction to Violence: The Terrifying Case of the Arrested Honey Trap Couple

The victim was left in critical condition after the brutal assault
A wife lured in the target, while her husband and accomplices assaulted him and stole his cash. A honey trap group—consisting of the ruthless couple and their partners—was arrested all at once.
On September 30, Osaka Prefectural Police arrested five men and women on suspicion of robbery resulting in injury and other charges: company employee Keigo Ōya (25) of Kumatori, Osaka; his unemployed wife Erina (22); part-time worker Toshiki Mikita (22) of Izumisano; unemployed Kaito Hama (21) of Izumisano; and company employee Kirin Matsumoto (25) of Misaki, Osaka.
“In April this year, they lured a man in his 20s through social media, assaulted him, stole his cell phone and wallet, and locked him in a car. They then tried to withdraw money from his account using an ATM,” said a reporter from a national newspaper’s social affairs section.
Why did the victim become their target?
“While browsing a friend’s social media, the victim found a woman with big, round eyes among the followers and sent her a friend request via DM. She replied quickly, and they arranged to meet at a park in Izumisano, Osaka. The woman was in fact Erina Ōya, Keigo’s wife. Around 11:20 p.m. on April 8, the man drove to the park, where she was waiting on a bench,” an investigative source said.
The victim reportedly intended to invite Erina for a drive. However—
“Even after they met, she kept looking at her phone. Just as the man began to feel something was off, Keigo Ōya and Toshiki Mikita suddenly rushed out from near a public restroom in the park, shouting, ‘Hey you! Who do you think you are?!’ before attacking him,” the source continued.
Another investigator described what happened next:
“After the assault, the man was dragged to a car waiting nearby, driven by Kirin Matsumoto, and forced inside. Keigo Ōya took the victim’s smartphone and demanded the PIN for his cash card. He then called his wife, who was still at the park, telling her, ‘Go to the convenience store now.’ Erina met up with Kaito Hama, stole the victim’s wallet and driver’s license from the car’s dashboard, and attempted to withdraw cash from an ATM.”
The group then regrouped at the park to discuss how to dispose of the victim. Around 12:30 a.m. on April 9, they abandoned him in front of a crematorium about five kilometers away and fled the scene.
“The crematorium was in the mountains, and the temperature was only six degrees Celsius. The victim was lightly dressed—just a hoodie and pants. His nose was broken, his head injured, and his blue hoodie soaked with blood. After the attackers left, he staggered along the dark road for an hour and a half before reaching a hospital for help. He sustained serious injuries that required a month to heal,” said the same investigator.
Following the incident, police traced the suspects through surveillance camera footage. Keigo Ōya reportedly admitted to the assault but denied robbery, while his wife Erina has confessed to the crime.
Keigo worked at a nursing facility and has a child with Erina—behavior utterly unbefitting of a parent.
