The Secret of Strength from Perfect Valieva’s Interaction with Hanyu and Others
Kamila Valieva, the rising star of Russia’s figure skating team at the Beijing Olympics, has become the talk of the town as her precious two-shot photos show her deep connection with Japanese athletes. Three years ago, she published a photo of herself with Yuzuru Hanyu, the “treasure of Japan,” among others, on Instagram.
Born on April 26, 2006 in Kazan, Russia, Valieva won the Junior Grand Prix Final in 2019, and the World Junior Figure Skating Championships in 2020, before entering the senior ranks in the 2021/2022 season. She immediately won the Skate Canada and Russia Cups in a row, both with the highest scores in the world.
At the Russian Championships, she won for the first time, breaking her own world record, although it was not recognized by the International Skating Union (ISU). She also won the European Championships in January this year.
Her overwhelming expressive power and technical skills have earned her the nickname “Despair” as she continues to break records. She has been regarded as the most promising candidate for the gold medal at the Beijing Olympics, and she immediately led the ROC (Russian Olympic Committee) to victory in the team competition.
In the midst of all this, the two shots of him and Hanyu taken in Torino in 2019 became a hot topic. Her sincere attitude of “interacting with top athletes from around the world” has probably made her what she is today. Her fans have also praised her for the breadth of her interactions.
The journey of this girl genius has just begun, and I wonder what kind of feats she will leave behind in the future. I can’t take my eyes off her any more.
