How Rurutan Became Japan’s Highest-Earning Adult Influencer

A 4-minute video priced at 10,000 yen

Working at a Tokyo-based escort agency while also making waves on YouTube, TikTok, and in gravure modeling, Rurutan (26) has become one of Japan’s most talked-about adult influencers.

On August 20, she released her first-ever photo book. Meanwhile, on her fan platforms Fantia and myfans, a single self-produced adult video she sold for 30,000 yen last year generated more than 120 million yen in profit. How did she manage to strike this digital goldmine? FRIDAY dives into the story behind her success.

Rurutan says she first entered the sex industry out of a destructive urge to hit rock bottom.

“When I was in junior high, I was sexually assaulted, and ever since then my mental state has been unstable. Back then, I often wanted to die. But since my parents had spent a lot on my education, I felt I should at least repay them financially. That’s why I decided to work in the sex industry.”

She began working at an escort service in 2019. The following year, she created a dedicated social media account and began promoting herself actively online.

“I posted slightly risqué photos and videos on X (Twitter) and TikTok, and used them to guide people to my YouTube channel. There are tons of girls who are cuter than me, but by presenting myself more like an influencer, I was able to carve out my own niche.”

In the sex industry, increasing income usually means either working longer hours or raising your rates.

“I chose to gradually raise my rates. Eventually, I was charging 40,000 yen per hour, and even then, I was fully booked two to three months in advance. My monthly income at that time was around 3 million yen. Now my rate is 200,000 yen per hour,” she laughs.

Even with that level of success, Rurutan wasn’t satisfied. She took her next big step—launching her own fan subscription platforms, which would later generate millions.

“I started getting bothered by how much time I was tied up working at the parlor. I wanted more freedom, so I began exploring fan sites as another avenue. I launched Fantia in August 2023, and about a year later, myfans. At first, I didn’t post nude content—just teasing photos and short videos, like eating a banana suggestively. Then I released a 4-minute masturbation video shot from the neck down, priced at 10,000 yen. Around 600 copies sold. That gave me confidence and made me realize this could really work.”
