Ken Watanabe Spotted Out with Wife in Casual Clothes After Busan Film Festival Red Carpet

A sharp-eyed man appears in a casual style, wearing a black cap, a denim button-down shirt, and pants. He is actor Ken Watanabe (65). Beside him was a woman closely by his side.

On September 17, the 30th Busan International Film Festival opened in Busan, South Korea. The film Sunflowers on the Board was officially entered in the “Open Cinema” section, and director Naoto Kumazawa, lead actor Kentaro Sakaguchi (34), and co-star Watanabe appeared on the red carpet and at the opening ceremony.

“When the three arrived at the red carpet in the festival’s official car, they were immediately showered with flashes from media around the world. Since both of their first names are ‘Ken,’ cheers like ‘Ken-san!’ and ‘Ken-chan!’ rang out. While Sakaguchi gave a slightly nervous, embarrassed smile, Watanabe, seemingly accustomed to such big stages, responded with a relaxed smile and waved to the crowd,” said a fan who attended the event.

Watanabe, shining in a silver suit, spoke at the outdoor stage greeting in front of 4,500 spectators,

“I’ve returned to Busan!”

in Korean, electrifying the audience. He ended by addressing them in English,

“Enjoy the movie.”

A few hours later, Watanabe returned to his hotel, changed into casual clothes, and, as at the beginning, appeared with the woman. According to Watanabe’s associates regarding this woman:

“She is Ms. A, Watanabe’s wife, whom he married in the spring of 2023. During their stay, they seemed to spend their free time leisurely exploring places in Busan together.”

The couple’s relationship first came to light in 2017 when Shukan Bunshun reported on an extramarital trip to New York, USA. Watanabe held a press conference immediately afterward to apologize, stating:

“After the report, I discussed it with the woman and ended the relationship.”

The following year, Watanabe and Kaho Minami (61) divorced. He married Ms. A in the spring of 2023, and they have been living together in Karuizawa, Nagano, where Watanabe has his home base. It has now been revealed that she accompanied him to Busan, and the couple also went sightseeing together in the city.

Following the film National Treasure, which has been called undoubtedly this year’s masterpiece, Watanabe missed out on awards at the festival, but the reputation of Sunflowers on the Board is strong. Scheduled for release in February next year, Watanabe also stars in the film Kobikicho no Adauchi alongside Tasuku Emoto (38). Judging from the two of them together, it is clear that Ms. A supports Watanabe through his extremely busy schedule.
