<h2>No one could tell their parents or teachers about X’s violence</h2>
Fukuoka’s prestigious Okin Gakuen High School—known for producing famous professional golfers such as Genzo Tokimatsu (32), Kana Mikashima (29), and Rui Kitada (43), as well as for its baseball team’s appearance at Koshien in 2018—has been rocked by a violent incident.
By September 12, the Fukuoka Prefectural Police had filed documents to prosecute a man in his 30s, X, who worked at Okin Gakuen, on suspicion of assault. X was the dormitory head for the boys’ dorm, where students live alongside him, and is suspected of assaulting three students.
The dormitory, serving as a home-away-from-home for students, makes this case particularly troubling due to the inescapable environment.
“It was so terrifying that none of the students felt they could tell their parents or teachers about X’s violence” said the parent of A, a baseball team member.
The violent side of dorm head X came to light on June 16. On that day, A and his roommate B, also on the baseball team, had left the air conditioner on. X sent a message in the dormitory group LINE:
〈I’m going to kill you today〉
“The boys were terrified by the message and went to apologize to X as soon as they returned from practice. Suddenly, X grabbed their heads and slammed them together, then began hitting and kicking them,” A’s parent said.
After the assault, A showed his injuries to his parents via a video call. B’s parents were also left speechless at the severity of the attack.
“My son’s neck was like it had been strangled. The next day he couldn’t speak. He had neck injuries, but we couldn’t even understand how they were caused, due to the relentless slaps, punches, and kicks from X,” said B’s parent.
Medical reports obtained the following day listed:
〈Head contusions, torso contusions and bruises, abrasions, facial contusions〉
showing the severity of the assault.
After receiving medical treatment, A, B, and their families filed a police report. Almost simultaneously, X was dismissed from his position as dorm head.
X had been appointed dorm head in July 2024, but was removed just a year later. Reports indicate he was mild-mannered at first, with his violent tendencies emerging about six months into his tenure, around December.

<h2>A tumbler was hurled at close range with tremendous force</h2>
“When everyone was gathered in the dining hall, X suddenly threw a chair toward the dorm students, narrowly missing their heads. No one was injured at the time, but the sudden change in X’s behavior shocked and terrified the students,” said the parent of C, a member of the golf club. From this point, X began to dominate the dorm through violence.
C also suffered a serious facial laceration requiring stitches on June 3, about two weeks before A and B were assaulted.
“After practice around 10 p.m., my son returned to the dorm and was suddenly stopped by a drunk X. In an angry voice, he asked, ‘Do you know why you are being punished?’ When my son honestly replied, ‘I don’t know,’ X hurled what seemed to be a highball with ice in a tumbler at him from close range.”
The tumbler struck just next to C’s right eye. Had it been a few millimeters off, he could have been blinded.
“In fact, we only learned about this after the assault on A and B was revealed and X was dismissed. Until then, my son had told us he had ‘bumped into a desk corner.’ X not only assaulted them but also verbally abused them with threats like, ‘You’re trash,’ ‘I’ll dominate this dorm with violence,’ and ‘I’ll kill you.’ Not just my son, but other students suffered abuse too, yet none could report it to the school or parents because X ruled the dorm through fear,” said C’s parent.
Did the school truly have no knowledge of X’s violent behavior? Okinawa Gakuen High School told our reporters:
“X prepared the dorm meals, but until this incident came to light, no complaints were received from students regarding the meals or anything else. When students spoke with the vice principal, they said, ‘I consult with X,’ or ‘He held a birthday party for us,’ so there were no negative reports. The school believed X was well-liked by the students.”
B said about the night of the assault:
“I couldn’t sleep at all, thinking X had come to the room to really kill me.”
X clearly dominated the dorm with violence and fear. How will the justice system judge him?
