On September 15, Hana Sugisaki (27), the lead actress of the movie “Meets the World,” scheduled to be released on October 24, took the stage at Iino Hall (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) for the completion announcement of the movie.
The film is an adaptation of Hitomi Kanehara’s novel of the same title, which is based on a modern version of Alice in Wonderland. She plays the role of Yukari Mitsuhashi, a 27-year-old woman with a low self-esteem who loves two-dimensional “Recommended Caps” (romantic relationships between her most favored anime and manga characters). She meets Rai, a beautiful cabaret girl, and is led into a new world.
Rai is played by Kotona Minami, 19.’ She gained attention in 2008 when she appeared in the music video for “Mr. Children’s” song “Documentary film,” and also appeared in “Official Bearded Man-dism’s” song “Mixed Nuts.” In “Bokutachi ha Sono Hoshi no Gakuritsu wo Mada Shiranai” (Kansai TV/Fuji TV), which aired in the July quarter of 2013, she played the role of Mizuho Saito, the vice president of students who gets involved in an incident, attracting even more attention.” (Film magazine reporter)
On this day, Minami wore a black oversized jacket over a white one-piece dress, while Sugisaki appeared in a black dress with a slightly see-through bust. About the film, Sugisaki said, “The most important thing is that I can relate to what’s going on right now,
I feel that nowadays it is important to be able to empathize with others and to connect with others using common points as a hook. I thought it was wonderful that the film depicted an overwhelming sense of incomprehension, as if it were a paradox, and at the same time it was like a prayer that people could still be close to each other.
I thought it was wonderful. Minami, on the other hand, was asked about her decision to audition for the role,
When I received the script, I was instantly attracted to this world and I strongly wanted to be a part of it, so I went to the audition. At the audition, Ms. Sugisaki was there and we performed the play together. It was a lot of fun, and I was able to do it with a lot of energy.
I had a lot of fun and I was able to let loose with her,” he said, appealing to the good chemistry between him and Sugisaki. When asked about Minami’s performance, Sugisaki said, “She really breathes her lines,
I was really struck by the way she was there as if she was breathing and saying her lines. I was just being tossed around by him.
He highly praised the talent of his younger colleague. After the onstage greeting, the performers moved to have a photo session with the audience in the background. Sugisaki gently put her hand on Minami’s hand as she was having trouble going down the stairs and escorted her down. While Minami smiled shyly, Sugisaki smiled with a relaxed smile on her face. The audience was thrilled to see them together.
Again, the two showed their outstanding chemistry. Expectations are high for their first film together.
