The legend of the football world responded, as always, with his trademark smile

In late July, Ronaldinho (45), former Brazil national team member and ex-FC Barcelona star, appeared at a luxury yakiniku restaurant in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

“Ronaldinho had come to Japan a few days earlier to participate in the charity football match Zico All-Star Game For Peace HIROSHIMA 80 Years, held on July 27 at Edion Peace Wing Hiroshima stadium in Hiroshima. The match, organized by football super-legend Zico (72), was held to commemorate the 80th year since the atomic bombing and to pray for peace.

Other stars joining Ronaldinho included former Brazil internationals Dunga (61) and Júlio César (45), as well as former Netherlands star Clarence Seedorf (49), with Hidetoshi Nakata (45) serving as coach—an extraordinarily glamorous lineup,” said a sports newspaper reporter.

Even among such a star-studded cast, Ronaldinho stood out as truly exceptional.

“Since joining Spain’s prestigious club FC Barcelona in 2003, he led the team as a key player to two Spanish league championships. He was named FIFA World Player of the Year in both 2004 and 2005, and in 2005 he won the Ballon d’Or. Wearing the number 10 as Brazil’s ace, he also contributed to Brazil’s championship victory in the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup.

But beyond his brilliant career, the reason for his worldwide popularity lies in his playing style as the ‘Magician on the Pitch.’ His unpredictable ball control and approaches to goal always enchanted spectators. And he played every match with a smile, so much so that it made the crowd smile too. There was no other player who seemed to enjoy the game as much as he did. Even after retirement, that smile remains unchanged, and he is still called the most beloved footballer in the world,” the reporter continued.

On this day as well, Ronaldinho wore his ever-present smile. At a super-luxury Matsusaka beef yakiniku restaurant on the top floor of a skyscraper, he appeared to be dining with sponsor representatives. When approached by customers who happened to be there, he responded with the smile seen here.

At the charity match, Ronaldinho excited a crowd of more than 15,000 with sharp, dazzling play and that unforgettable smile. With his smile and elegance on the field, may he continue to enchant fans forever.
