5 Years Later, KAT-TUN Takes the Stage Again—Will This Be the Ultimate Comeback?
Heading toward the long-cherished concert
KAT-TUN, which officially disbanded on March 31 of this year, announced that they will hold a concert titled “Break the KAT-TUN” on November 8 at ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba Prefecture. This marks an unusual reunion concert following their disbandment, and if realized, it will fulfill a long-cherished wish for both the members and their fans.
When the group announced their disbandment in February, STARTO ENTERTAINMENT stated:
“We will disband on March 31, but at the members’ request, we are currently making arrangements to create an opportunity to meet fans again in the near future.”
Although no news came immediately, about half a year later, fans finally received the good news.
However, as of now, “Break the KAT-TUN” is scheduled for only one performance, prompting some fans to voice disappointment:
“Why only one show!? We want a nationwide tour! At least do Tokyo Dome and Kyocera Dome Osaka!”
The event page from STARTO ENTERTAINMENT notes that “If additional performances are decided, the start times will be displayed in red” (as of August 8), leaving open the possibility that more shows could be added if demand is high.
The final concert at ZOZO Marine Stadium will also be an outdoor show, something the members had long hoped for.
KAT-TUN had originally planned an outdoor concert in July 2011 at a Kawasaki City industrial complex to celebrate their 5th CD debut anniversary. However, the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011 forced the cancellation of this first outdoor performance. Member Tatsuya Ueda (41) later expressed regret during a 2023 concert rehearsal when asked about future goals, admitting that the canceled 5th anniversary outdoor concert had left him with unfinished business.
As a result, fans online reacted with excitement:
“An outdoor concert!? Finally fulfilling a wish from 2011 KAT-TUN never disappoints!”
“They’re finally doing the outdoor show that was canceled years ago. Thank you!”
“At the very end, they’re revenging the long-lost outdoor concert!”
“I think they wanted to do this outdoor show because the 2011 concert was canceled due to the earthquake. I’m so happy KAT-TUN is back!”
However, fans have expressed some logistical concerns. On November 8–9, the rock band LUNA SEA will host “LUNA SEA LUNATIC FEST. 2025” at Makuhari Messe, whose nearest station, Kaihin-Makuhari Station, is the same as that for ZOZO Marine Stadium. This could lead to extreme crowding at the station depending on timing.
Since LUNA SEA announced their event about six months in advance, nearby reasonably priced hotels are already filling up. Some KAT-TUN fans began searching for accommodations as soon as the concert announcement was made on August 7 but reported difficulty finding rooms:
“I tried to secure a hotel, but there’s nothing available for the 8th.”
Additional events at Makuhari Messe that day, including a fan club event for Momoiro Clover Z, a live show by Little Glee Monster, and the =LOVE 19th single release individual talk event, are expected to increase congestion around the station.
KAT-TUN’s long-awaited outdoor concert is sure to be a memorable day for both the members and the fans who gather at the venue.
